Videogame soundtracks do tend to have the right mix of moods for gaming, definitely. For our groupís fight with Demogorgon, I put on the Bloodborne soundtrack. Songs like this one kept everyoneís, ahem, blood, pumping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHIkUzmNmc0 Gaming soundtracks like those for Baldurs Gate or Diablo II work really well.

Youíll see when Pathfinder 2.0 is released there will be no mention of 1.0 in any of the reviews whatsoever. Absolutely none. Nada. Not even the barest mention. I highly doubt that. Certainly, some reviews won't dwell on it, and that's fine. But more than a few reviews will, and perhaps even make an edition comparison a major part of the review.

  • 01:45 PM - darjr quoted Fandabidozi in post Rules Cyclopedia of Basic D&D now in POD
Oh, wow, I didn't know that. I'll give my local shop a call and ask if they get any. Thanks. I may have mislead you a bit. Even the recent reprints seem to go for a pretty penny. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ol/0786962461/ref=olp_tab_all My flgs still had some as of last week at retail, Iíll see if they still do tonight.

I'd love to see the 3.5 core rulebooks get a reprint. I could only afford The Players Handbook at the time and using blurry PDF copies just ain't the same. The latest reprints are out there in stores still. At least around here.

  • 06:01 PM - Jay Verkuilen quoted Fandabidozi in post Is D&D Too Focused on Combat?
Well, I like combat and I like exploration and I also like logistics. But which one's better? There's only one way to find out! Fight!!! LOL! IMO you can synergize RP, exploration, combat, and logistics. Here's a very simple example: Let's say your characters want to get some healing potions for an upcoming expedition. They go to the alchemist at Ye Olde Alchemist Shoppe in their favorite town Homebase. Ye Olde Alchemist Shoppe is, alas, out of such potions as there has been a run on it due to the tensions between Homebase and Rivaltowne. However, they know where the main ingredient can be acquired... unfortunately it's very dangerous. It's in a swamp that's known to be infested with all sorts of beasties, such as trolls, alligators, and such. So... the PCs can help out and Ye Olde Alchemist Shoppe will give them a nice discount on potions if they get the ingredients, which requires exploring. There are many variations and ways to hook the PCs into the world. The bard character can negotiate t...

@Jacob Lewis Do you do weddings as well? Sure! I hear D&D and MTG have been courting for a while now. Have you heard anything to suggest the inevitable blessed merger? It should be a grand spectacle!

  • 05:38 PM - Mercule quoted Fandabidozi in post The State of D&D: Products, Psionics, Settings, & More
Thatís Eberron mentioned a whole lot. My favourite setting. Awesome! Agreed. I'm a bit nervous because the team seems to be so intent on explaining everything. That runs counter to some core Eberron concepts. Even more, though, I think it runs counter to having distinct setting flavors. The bit about the mind flayers controlling most of the prime material, jumped out at me. That's a bit more story than I really think core D&D needs. My setting doesn't even have mind flayers, so that's a weird assumption to have to deal with. It just seems like they're trying to nail down too much, too specifically. Trying to tie psionics to the Far Realm, in the UA articles, is another example.

  • 05:30 PM - Jester David quoted Fandabidozi in post Starfinder News From PaizoCon - Core Rulebook, Races, Guns, Alien Archive
I keep telling myself I've already invested in Star Wars FFG so I don't reeeally need this. Ok who am I kidding. Day one purchase! 😁 That's my thoughts. FFGs' books are so expensive, I want to justify their purchase and play that game. And, really, if I wanted a science fantasy RPG using the d20 system, I do have Star Wars from WotC... three versions! I'm not sure how much Paizo's world and setting appeals to me over other beloved established space franchises. When does the Alien Archive release. There is no mention of it on Paizo's Product Schedule, which already runs through September.... After buying the core Star Wars FFG books and a number of adventures, we gave up on it after one session. The range bands killed it for us. We are looking forward to Starfinder. I doubt they'll go down that range band path. I keep telling myself I've already invested in Star Wars FFG so I don't reeeally need this. Ok who am I kidding. Day one purchase! 😁
