I'm really enjoying the book. Cant wait to use the down time stuff. I was pretty big into 5e when it launched then life happened and had to take a break. Now I'm able to get back into it. Picked up with my old group right where we stopped (at the end of lost mines). Just started Tomb of Annihilation. Can anyone say if SCAG is worth it? Seems like most of the adventure paths have all the info you...

I also like that they added common magic items. I can add a little more customization to a NPC without making him/her over powered.

In relation to communicating a dungeon via films, the Goonies is a great example of a group exploring a dungeon (with traps and puzzles to boot). Tomb of Annihilation would be great source material for a D&D movie. I dont think it would be a good story to start a film franchise out with though. I would say the best bet would be to pull from the Forgotten Realms novels. Research which ones...

Been writing up an outline for ToA. Hopefully I will get to start Tuesday. As of now this is how I've "stream lined" it. For the record I will have at most 3 players but more than likely I have 2. I plan to continue their characters from Lost Mines. They will be roughly 5th level at the start. Here's what I have so far. They will be propositioned by a well to do NPC who wants them to...

Thanks for the tips! Been binge watching Force Grey. I like how Mercer ran the jungle trek pretty much structured all the way to the lost city. I'll definitely dial the death curse back so my players can explore. Theres a lot of cool locations I dont want them to miss.

I'm about to start this adventure. I will DM and have a small group of 2 players. I was planning on fleshing out a guide to help round out the group. Any pointers on running this with a small group?

Did you happen to get a page count and level range for the adventure? Oh, my bad, bro, should've posted the source, it's from the Purple Pawn website. Have added that in. Thanks heaps! Other than that, can't seem to find any more concrete information, hopefully we'll get more additional information closer to the release date.

Just picked this book up for steal at 20$ on Amazon. Has anyone had the chance to try any of these out? Curious to see how the Bard college of swords plays. Just from reading it makes me think this would be a cool sub-class to play. It's arguably the best book out for 5e D&D that isn't one of the core books, and $20 is a great bargain for it. Lots of people have tried out the subclasses in there and they tend to work very well. Some of the new spells are great too. Right now I am working with the Tool Use section to add some depth to my fighter who otherwise sometimes lacks some oomph outside of combat. It's an all around great book.

Just from reading it makes me think this would be a cool sub-class to play. The swords bard really shines with one level of paladin or fighter to start. With that multiclass they are fantastic. The flourishes once you hit level 5 are plentiful and can make you a true frontliner with your defensive abilities to dodge tank.

Just from reading it makes me think this would be a cool sub-class to play. It's not as strong as Valour but could be more fun depending on taste. Bardic Inspiration is very strong but using it on flourishes means not using it for allies. Mobile flourish has the most potential. Slashing isn't worth the inspiration cost and the defensive one is nice to have in dire circumstances. Cloud of Daggers is a great spell for a Swords Bard. Keep in mind too that it works with ranged attacks so you can throw weapons. I would only ever take 2-weapon fighting. If you want a Duelist style then Valour for sure.

I'm about to start this adventure. I will DM and have a small group of 2 players. I was planning on fleshing out a guide to help round out the group. Any pointers on running this with a small group? Yeah, I'd suggest starting them at 3rd level. For the guide(s), I'd suggest tailoring the guide(s) based on whatever party roles your 2 players don't cover. Say they decide to play a ranger and a sorcerer, and neither has healing magic or thieves' tools proficiency. I'd steer them towards guides who might have those sorts of skills. For example, Eku is known as an accomplished healer, and River Mist & Flask of Wine are likely to have shady reputations (i.e. you might give them thieves' tools proficiency and Thieves Cant). You might also check out the recent Unearthed Arcana - Sidekicks which has a system for leveling NPCs along with the player characters.
