Elfshire started a thread Polyhistor cheat sheet
After one of my players expressed some frustration at the complexity of the Polyhistor paragon path, I got inspired to make a one-page reference guide to try to make it easier. Note that I did take some liberties with the path... I renamed some effects to make them a little more accurate. "Two Targets" became "Extra Attack" "Multiple Targets" became "Area Attack" "Damage" for Brute...

Page 5 of the extended Pathfinder Zeitgeist Player's Guide had its own writeup for the eladrin race, which included the ability to teleport 30 ft as a move action, once per day. You can find the guide available for free download here. Eladrin in 5e can teleport as well--if you're having trouble finding them, their racial writeup is in the DMG, not the PHB. Downloadable here for 4e, or here for Pathfinder. And boy is it awesome. Can't wait to run it... three years from now when my monthly group makes it that far. Thanks, I never got any of the pathfinder material so I was just curious about Eladrin. I don't think it's worth the money to me to get ch 13 for a system I won't be running it in; I'll just have to wait for the 5e version. Too bad, I was hoping to skim over the plot for the whole thing while I was waiting; oh well.

An interesting thought but... aside from painting my floor with a 1" grid, I can't think of a way that would work. Any surface I put the grid on is going to either crumple or slide when I step on it, and I can't very well hold a single footing for an entire 15-30 minute combat round (ah, yes, 4e turn bloat) while holding an armful of notes. Go gridless. Use rulers and tape measures for distance. Then just play on the floor.

Will this (eventually) be delivered to KS backers as well, as per the stretch goal? Which Kickstarter? We've run several.

A good option to have... but how do we know what size we need to print in order to get those grid squares at 1-inch large? I actually have the same question myself! Right now, I'm not sure. I may have to experiment by buying a few.

  • 10:54 PM - RangerWickett quoted Elfshire in post Question about starting Zeitgeist
Two more questions since we're on the topic of mystical divinations: 1) Why does Nevard's vision refer to Luc as "a trumpeter"? I don't get the connection/symbolism. That's not Luc. It's Nicodemus, a charismatic speaker. He gets on stage in act 8 and lights a lantern that makes everyone loyal. (Then he tries to kill them.) 2) In chapter 5, Ekossigan's poem is a bit vague, correct me if I wander astray in my interpretation: When spring returns to winter, The cauldron births a spark. The steel betrays the vintner, The silver spuns the arc. > No idea on this one. Best guess is it's a clever turn of phrase for "things don't go as planned," a reference to the silver arc of Reida. Unclear if this would be a common euphemism in Risur/Lanjyr, or if Ekossigan made it up off the top of his head. It's the sliver spurns the arc, but basically yes, it's a reference to Reida's lost arc, and how it's a symbol for unpredictability. The fire-bride's dissension: / Dismissed by green-ado...

The fire-bride's dissension: / Dismissed by green-adorned. > King Aodhan (who wears green) is largely ignoring his fiance Lya's involvement in the conspiracy in the aim of making sure the peace talks go well. After all, just because she's into something sketchy doesn't mean all of Danor is.. I read that as referring to Kasvarina (bride of the fiery Asrabey) dissenting from the Ob, but the Ekossigan's band of green-adorned faeriefolk not caring and making their own attack plans. but I could see yours as well...

  • 10:25 PM - Hitomi Camacho quoted Elfshire in post Brainstorming for ZEITGEIST 5th edition
Um... no thanks? I can't imagine how long that would take for an individual group (mine or someone else's) to find a workable 'translation' for every class, feat, magic item, etc. Even with trying to pick similar options at every opportunity, you'd almost certainly be left with something that has a very different 'feel' than your old character. Not to mention having to re-learn every little rule... Switching over is fine as an option, but that should never be mandatory. Please don't do that. :( This, a milion times!

  • 10:36 PM - hirou quoted Elfshire in post On our way to GenCon - also, the 4e act one compilation is on sale
I have to admit, I'm pretty miffed that I paid for this thing a year ago on Kickstarter, have waited through several delays, and now the general public has access to it before me; I have to wait for the better part of a week before getting my copy. But maybe I'm being unreasonable about this? It's a small consolation for you, but... As "general public" I deeply thank you for supporting that Kickstarter, which allowed to expand this AP so much.

Not to be picky but... I see no such coupon. Nothing in email (or in the spambox), no messages on KS, nothing. Send me an email at ryanznock@gmail.com and I'll hook you up.

  • 08:35 AM - hirou quoted Elfshire in post Confused about gold totals (4e)
They should only be keeping those icons if you're using the optional rules where the party is not working for the RHC, and therefore not getting a stipend. Otherwise, they have to requisition and pay for the icons after the adventure's close. This... actually makes sense, both in-game and mathematically. I've read through "Rewards" section again and now understand it's logic, thank you.

  • 09:33 PM - Morrus quoted Elfshire in post ZEITGEIST Add-on - Crypta Hereticarum (4E)
...What if we're not a subscriber at the moment, but we were a $60+ backer for the Kickstarter? Ryan will be sending it out to the Kickstarter backers, presumably as soon as he next comes online and sees it's available.

I can make Crypta Hereticarum work for my group, if needed. I apologize - I assumed Bonds of Forced Faith was written in some form, since it was playtested at GenCon, according to the Aug 22 Kickstarter update. Ah, then yeah, it probably exists! (I was actually in that game).
