Glasgow Transport Museum is good, especially the model ships, and Kelvingrove Art Gallery (which is mostly a museum). They are right beside one another, on opposite sides of Argyle Street in the west end, near Kelvingrove Park. The quickest way to get there is from Hillhead underground station.

Also of interest might be the Hunterian Museum which is located in Glasgow University, also in the west end, the Burrell Collection on the south side, Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis. Generally speaking, the west end is the nicest part of the city, there are some good bars and restaurants in Ashton Lane off Byres Road, which is also just beside Hillhead underground station.

In fact a good trip might be:
    1) Take underground to Hillhead.
    2) Walk up University Avenue to Hunterian Museum.
    3) Walk through Kelvingrove Park to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Transport Museum.

    Hi Doug,

This is an out of the blue question, especially since we don't know each other. I'm going to Glasgow for a few days very soon. Do you have some nice places to suggest visiting?

    There's nothing like local lore!
