El Mahdi was the first character I created and played (AD&D in 1993/4), a Katana wielding Half-Elf Ranger. The name is based on an obscure reference for Paul Muad'dib (Dune). I am a retired USAF NCO (21 years) and current student. I've lived, visited, and had assignments all around the world, including: England, Korea, and of course Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places too numerous to list. Playing D&D since 1994 when introduced by fellow USAF members while stationed at RAF Mildenhall. DM'd and played in a group at my last base (Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA). Current group is very small, just me, my wife, and her cousin (and sometimes my 73 yr. old mother-in-law - and she's pretty good). Preferred system is House Ruled OGL (3E). Favorite settings are Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Star Wars, Wheel of Time, Game of Thrones, DarkMatter, StarDrive, and Stargate. I mostly GM but would love to be able to trade-off GM duties and kill a few monsters myself.

- Increased Hit Points at first level (4E concept - for 5th to 10th level sweet spot feel at all levels)
- Modified Base Attack Bonus and Save Bonus progression (for sweet spot feel thru 20th level)
- Class abilities are Front Loaded at first level (can do what they were meant to from 1st level on)
- Use an adapted Defensive Progression with Defensive Rolls (adapted from Unearthed Arcana)

Races: Humans, Elves/Drow (and sub-races), Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes/Forrest Gnomes, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Warforged (so far this is what's worked up and statted for play, however this list is not all inclusive and can add other races on case-by-case basis).
Classes: Fighter/Warrior/Knight, Rogue/Thief, Wizard/Sorcerer, Bard, Herald, Cleric, Druid, Monk, Ranger (no spells), Paladin (Human/Half-Elf/Warforged Only), Bladesinger (Elven Only), Dwarven Defender (Dwarf Only), Drow Blademaster (Drow Only) (so far this is what's worked up and statted for play, however this list is not all inclusive and can add other classes on case-by-case basis).
Campaign Setting: Homebrewed Forgotten Realms - set in current time after spell plague (but not buying or planning to buy new 4th Edition Forgotten Realms Setting). Some of the things released about 4E FR in previews on WoTC website, may have happened, others may not have. Until I take your characters through it or present it, they are all just rumors.
