Algaris Yothic was originally from an outlying farm in Tarnmist. The extensive Yothic family was a mad cult dedicated to the creatures of the maddening dreams. Algaris's mother was pregnant with twins and offered herself to the Things at the old Watching Stones in the woods on the lands. During the ritual the unborn twins were tainted. One more than the other. THe twins were birthed in the ritual. Over time, the two blessed children were raised and educated. In fact, they were the best educated in the whole Yothic family. They were preached to with the maddening prayers and taught to worship the Old Ones. To children, these things made little sense, both grew rebellious. He was regularly beaten and worse. On the night of thier 15th birthday there was a freak lightning storm. Armed men and women, humans and dwarves, in armor showed up and the Yothic family met them with force. The twins escaped from the main Yothic house and into the barn. There was magic, blood, and death. The rain leaked into the barn and the twin's parent's found them. They began to recite a prayer as the remaining Yothic family members defended the barn with their lives. The twins thought they were being protected, even after all the abuse they suffered until their father pulled out a ritual dagger and several of the invaders called out to the children and declared that they were going to protect them from the Yothic family and their mad gods. Each child was stabbed in the stomach. Lightning hit the house. The flames and rain were everywhere, as was the fighting. Algaris, one of the twins, fell from the loft they were on and landed in hay. He heard the splintered wood, the flames, the thunder, the screams, and something else. He called out to his brother, but recieved no answer. The air became putrid and the sounds of gore grew. THe earth trembled as if something massive was moving around and the sounds of fighting became screams. Algaris escaped after calling out to his brother several more times and recieving no response. He continued to ear the screams, the sounds of the bard splintering, and noises of something that did not belong. Algaris was drenched by the rain and ran for the woods. There was a bright flash. Something massive was moving where the barn once was, thousands of things writhed around its shapeless mass. Lighting struck it, there was a thunderous explosion.
Algaris awoke at the home of an old artificer, Shol Faric. Algaris was beginning to chage - he was losing his humanity day by day. Shol lived in a small hovel outside of Borderwinds. He taught Algaris his trade, and while cold was still far more like a father figyre than Algaris every had before. Shol passed a year ago, and Algaris sought out further experiences and training from Master Drom and Tobias Blackforge.
That was off the top of my head. Does that work? - 14th July 2008 11:56 PM - permalinkDragonbait+2 Int and +2 Con? Well crap.. That's what I need as an artificer..
Okay, I'm going to make my life difficult and go with a Tiefling then. A very covered up tiefling. - 14th July 2008 07:33 PM - permalinkDragonbaitHey Bill. No work here at work, so I am PMing you now. I don't know if I did this correctly.
I played my first 4E game, and I sucked. Hahahaha. I was not impressed with the cleric powers.
The Classes
I’m sticking with the Artificer.
Races
Human – the safe bet. I could always play human, but I want something more tied to your setting’s Mythos.
Eladrin or Tiefling – Well, Eladrin was going to be a safe bet and a first for me, but your tiefling idea made me thing Holy Cow! That’s interesting and directly tied to the Mythos. It’s that whole Innsmouth Look.
Would Tieflings still have +2 Cha, +2 Int?
