I'm 35 years old, and currently work as an English language teacher. I usually live outside the US, although at the moment I'm staying with family in west Texas. In a former lives, I was a software developer and student of astrophysics.
I've been gaming on and off (mostly off, unfortunately) since I was 10 when I got a red box Basic set for Christmas. As a kid, I played many games, both RPG and strategy. I've always kept my eye on rpgs in some form or another, but unfortunately rarely have had the opportunity to do a lot of gaming. I was involved in a couple campaigns while at university, and ran a 1.5 year campaign until late 2007. Since then, travelling and the vagaries of Life have conspired to render me homeless, gamingly speaking. I'm always looking for a group!

- I generally prefer low-power, low-magic gritty games. In fact, I really like the E6 concept that was discussed a couple years ago, and am putting together a small 3.5 campaign based on that system.
That said, I'm really open to anything! I haven't tried 4e, but would be happy to give it a whirl. Likewise, it would be nifty to re-acquaint myself with something oldschool - I have a few fond memories of B/X, and playing that as a grown-up would be immensely entertaining.
My main gaming interests (off the top of my head) are Cthluhu; Star Wars; zombies; post-apocalyptic; sword & sorcery; and, of course, other variants of D&D, high-fantasy or low. Really, I'm willing to try anything! - Interested in playing

- I usually end up playing good Clerics, usually some merge of war cleric and heal-bot. Sometimes I try something offbeat; my last character was a half-orc barbarian/sorcerer whose rage ability represented the struggle between his savage orc half and his cultivated human half.
I am not much of a character optimizer, nor am I much of a tactician. I prefer to think up something interesting to play and evolve from an RP perspective, even if that means having to play a sub-optimal monster killing "build".

Following are the first few 3.5e homebrew creatures I've posted for public mockery. It's all pretty random stuff that has been bouncing around my head fairly recently. All are low level; CRs are (very) approximate:
Weeping Owbra (small magical beast, CR 1/6)Most of this stuff is just existing SRD stuff with a few modifications and/or standard templates applied, along with a little fluff. Please forgive any of the inevitable errors in rules that almost certainly infect these.
Sugarjilly (small fey, CR 1)
Hatchling Zombie (diminutive undead, CR 1/8)
Hellion Gourd (large plant [evil, extraplanar], CR6)
