Interestingly, Theroc, I used that red dragon avatar when I first joined ENWorld. That was before I 'discovered' my proper gnomish persona.

Hio! The changes in Grim'n'Gritty Revised are fairly large, but not very hard to grasp. Is there some file type you can read, I could upload them in that type?
The goal of the system is partly making combat more dangerous, and partly to reduce the abstract thinking of hit points as being health, luck, ability to parry and dodge, and so on.
I'll try to summarize the changes:
Hit points: Every character has a life bar of 20 hit points. For every 5 hit points you take, you gain a -1 penalty on most things. Hit points are static and aren't affected by level, race, or constitution.
Active Defense: AC is replaced by Defense, which is basically 1d20 + AC mods except natural armor and armor.
Soak: All creatures has a soak value, similiar to damage reduction. It's a total of con bonus, size modifier, armor bonus, and natural armor bonus.
Variable success: If you beat the targets defense with your attack roll, you add the difference to damage.
