Why can't I send private messages? Do you have to be a member for X number of days or have X number of posts?

You have to pay for PM privileges. The easiest way is to purchase a Community Supporter Account, but from your CP you can also buy seperate benefits.

Note that I believe everyone can receive PMs, but only supporters (or partial payers) can send them.

Actually, the point is moot. "Mere" registered users cannot consult their PMs, even in the hypothesis they can receive them...

Yeah. AFAIK you can't even send PMs to them but the last time I tried was long before a lot of software upgrades, so I'm not 100% sure.

Are you sure? Don't they simply need to enable PMs in their CP?
