Front Page Message Board Link

Just noticed this while surfing in from the main site. The message boards link on the main page surfs to an error page, as does the message board link on that error page. The third link, the one on the second error page...works.

What's the address of the "main page" as you are seeing it?

And what address does it try to link you to (the incorrect address)?

This is something I have been meaning to raise.

Currently I am at home and logged in as maransreth. When I use the messageboards link, there are no problems.

At work however, if I have time, I visit enworld, but I do not log in as anyone. I am thus an unregistered user. When I click on the Messageboards link it takes me to a 404 error page (the links is something like http://www.enworld.org/AHFGadFBahdFB,ZNCBSD2298048UH - basically a whole lot of rubbish after the .org/). When you look at the lefthand side of the screen you then notice that the link for the Chatroom has changed color as if it is a followed link, instead of the Messageboard link that I clicked on.

I wasnt sure if this was just the computer I was on at work, but it continuely does it for me when I am NOT logged in with my handle for any machine I use.

So hopefully that will shed some light on the subject.

I've run into the same problem. Basically, the issue is that the link tries to pass a parameter along with the URL, but leaves out the question mark that separates the URL itself from the parameter. So the URL looks like "http://www.enworld.org/forums.phps=insertjunkhere" instead of "http://www.enworld.org/forums.php?s=insertjunkhere".

Ah... Well in that case, I know the problem. Gonna fix it now.

Ok, it's fixed. And staffan, that "junk" is the session data. When you cannot (or decline to) use a cookie the system puts the session data into the URL in an encoded form.

I figured as much (based on it being denoted by an "s"), but to my untrained eyes it looks like random junk.

That would match up with what was happening to me. When checking the site from work, and thus not logging in from enworld.org. Thanks for the speedy fix.
