Torn between Rules Forum and House Rules

I'd like to ask moderator permission to post something in the Rules forum.

I am writing a set of rules that will be eventually published, so technically that is still house rules. However, I wish to make a call for playtesters, and my intended audience are rule lawyers who hang out in Rules.

I wouldn't post the rules themselves, just make the call and ask to be contacted. Are there any objections to this?

Actually, playtester calls pretty specifically belong in the Open Calls forum.

Put that in the Open Call forum.

Then, place a link (using the [thread] tag) to your Open Call thread in your sig.

Then participate (constructively, otherwise it would be spamming!) in several D&D Rules thread.

Ugh. Unfortunate that I can't sollict participation from a specific set of users. But of course, you're the boss.

Sound like this would be the preferred method...

Ah, but you are. In fact, by placing a call out to playtesters in the Open Calls forum, you will be soliciting the participation of the ideal specific set of users; those predisposed to actually give their time to playtest something.

If you find while discussing your rules that there are those who are taking a particularly keen interest in them, point them toward the playtester call and have them go through the exact same process to become a playtester as any other playtester.

Generally speaking, when you get to the playtesting phase of product development, those who helped in the earlier development are less helpful than those who come in cold because they are often too close to the project to spot some of the weaknesses. Also, they can interact with the rules in ways that s based on assumptive knowledge inhereted from the earlier development stages.

Best to set up a system of playtesting that keeps developers away from influencing playtesting in progress.
