Linking to other sites: Grandma-safe?

I'd like to place a link in a post. The link is to a page that has swearing, but no graphics. I'm not sure what the rules are in terms of links to other sites -- the page has language that I wouldn't use on ENWorld, but it's being used for comic effect, and I don't think it is actually offensive.

Would one of the moderators mind giving a quick rundown of the rules on what they're okay with linking to and what they're not okay with linking to?

Thanks!

Not a moderator - but I think the usual guideline is that if the target contains things you'd not write here directly, you shouldn't link to it either.

Thanks, Umbran. It shall thus remain unlinked.

Agreed. Falls under "keep it clean" (i.e., "don't link to sites with inappropriate" content - inappropriate for EN World, of course).

While at it, I think we need a rules FAQ. I've broken _lots_ of rules here during the years just because I do not have the same morals as the admins, and I'm probably not alone. It took me a couple of years to get the spirit of ENW, and I still do things not considered okay here, even when I really try to behave. To quote the rules thread for example:

Quote:
The "acid test" we use is the "Grandmother Rule" -- if it would be inappropriate to say to or show to our grandmothers, don't do it. I want a typical 13 year old kid to be able to come here and participate if they want to without feeling uncomfortable.
This doesn't make sense for "my" generation. Me and my friends watched some rather sick pornography when I was 13 years old, so that point is moot. And the grandma thing is kinda vague too, I dont hide anything for my grandma, we discuss everything, particularly after a few glasses of whiskey

I think the grandma rule should be replaced with the Ned Flanders rule, to avoid confusion. Wish I got that a few years ago, and not when I wrote this.

Unless you want to fake some jive-ass speak, don't bring it to ENWorld. Dig?

You mean like this one, or something more detailed?

As for the rule, while you got the cool grandma, all of us were stuck with the boring grandma who gave us punch and cookies, and refused to hear talk about sexually explicit acts, most four-letter words (and even then she frowned on the common ones), and explicit bathroom humor.

Fortunately, Grandma was a little... dense, and the veiled stuff often slipped right by her. But she generally let us do our thing, and even when she corrected us, it was with a friendly tone and no harsh feelings afterward, so we let her worry about telling us what was a no-no if it slipped out, and lesson learned, she let us run with it from there.

If there's one dragon, it's a solo monster.
If there's five dragons, they're standard monsters.
If there's a dozen dragons, either most of them are minions or your DM is tired of the campaign.
