vB code question - lists

Anyone know if I can make ordered lists in vB that don't start at the beginning? I.e., a numbered list that starts with 3, for instance? Or is that not possible?

Unless Michael M knows differently, it's not possible. Usually I just create those myself, either straight text or using the (block) tag and a little fancy editing, or stick with bulleted lists.

If there's one dragon, it's a solo monster.
If there's five dragons, they're standard monsters.
If there's a dozen dragons, either most of them are minions or your DM is tired of the campaign.

Probably so. It is possible in html, of course, and since vB code html syntax are very similar I thought maybe it was possible.

Heck, why don't I just try it an see?
  1. This should be 3.
  2. This should be 4.
Ah, well, it didn't work.

Number it yourself.

3. Entry
4. Entry 2
5. Entry 3.

It doesn't work the same if your bullet is a paragraph, though.

This is a test of joshua's problem.
  1. The quick brown tarrasque ran over the three lazy knights. The quick brown tarrasque ran over the three lazy knights. The quick brown tarrasque ran over the three lazy knights. The quick brown tarrasque ran over the three lazy knights.
  2. Pack my box with five dozen healing potions.
  3. Nope, no go. And the CODE and INDENT tags will look ugly, too, which means numbering by hand or just doing bullets are the only ways.

Yeah, I'll have to just do something else. I'm converting my old Dungeoncraft webpages into articles in the articles section, and as I get to the old Rules of Dungeoncraft, it'd be nice to number them correctly as well as formating them to stand out from the rest of the text.

In that case, I'd recommend just using standard {*} lists followed by the number.

So...
  • 6. It puts the lotion in the basket
  • 7. Urp...

That's the best compromise I'd thought of too -- that's probably what I'll end up doing. Some judicious use of the bold tag, and I should be fairly well set.

Ah, very cool. I actually wanted to ask where you put them, as I didn't find them on your site anymore, but I kept forgetting...
