MetaPost comments and questions about the messageboards and other parts of EN World. If you have a problem, this is where to go. Moderator email addresses are posted here.
Did any of you have problems this morning with enworld.org?
I'm currently getting in here via the IP address directly, and based on a post via Michael Morris in Nothingland, he's having similar problems. are any of you here via bypassing www.enworld.org, or have you had no problems this morning?
Just trying to get a handle on what's wrong.
Thanks!

If there's one dragon, it's a solo monster.
If there's five dragons, they're standard monsters.
If there's a dozen dragons, either most of them are minions or your DM is tired of the campaign.

I'm sneaking in via the IP address (found it in a WHOIS) and about 10% of my functionality is cut off, but now that I'm in I'm doing pretty well. I wonder how many others had the problem, and what regions/providers it was limited to? I know Spoony (Michael) was having problems, but Piratecat just told me he hasn't seen any. And the people who are still having problems we still won't be hearing from.

I haven't had any problems, but then again, I just logged in a few minutes ago. What is the numerical IP address for EN World, anyway? Is there a general way of finding this number for other websites?

Kept having the system time out trying to connect this morning. All better now

leave off the "www" or "www2" - in this case, enworld.org

Good for me now, too - I hadn't noticed I had been using the www.enworld.org name now for a short while.

Had no problems, all morning, using the url, and I first checked the site about 9:15 or so EST. But you could get on using the IP. That would probably make it a DNS problem somewhere (and not a routing thing, since that would stop IP access too), but not everywhere... I wonder if there are DNS servers that are geographic, or if it just depends on what server your ISP subscribes to.
I had problems until about 10, and after that I was working on the php during which I restarted Apache several times. That might have knocked someone off if they requested a page at the right (or should I say wrong) moment.

I was on, overnight, between Sunday night and Monday morning, CST. While editing a post, I lost connection to ENWorld.org. I could Ping the IP, and get good times, but Tracert wouldn't recognize it, at all. This lasted many minutes (I'm guessing over half an hour), during which I retried, refreshed, sat and waited, Pinged, Treacerouted, waited some more, and tried numerous pages. Finally, I left. Sorry, I can't pin down the time, anymore.

I suspect it was a DNS problem. Me no know.
a few sites i visit still have the old cyberstreet url link. so i went to them yesterday morning and got the front page without issue using the cyberstreet addy. but when i clicked on the message board forum or review section using the front page. it came back unavailable.
it wasn't until around 10am EST that i finally could get into the message boards yesterday.
