Check who is reading a thread?

... or is this even possible?

I suppose not, since you don't even need to be logged in to look through the forums. So I guess I answered my own question. But, I'll leave it up here just in case there actually is a way to do it.

The reason that I ask is I now have two Story Hour threads. One of which has been completed for about two months, yet it continues to get between 2-4 reads per day. My new Story Hour thread seems to have about 12 - 15 dedicated readers who check in between updates. I was wondering if there was any way of knowing the identities of the thread readers if they don't post.

Not that it really matters. Just curious.

To my knowledge, the best you can do is to check who's viewing something now via Who's Online.

Not an answer to your question, but a handy hint for those who haven't spotted it...

Click on the number under 'replies' for your thread and you can see a list of all the people who've posted in the thread and their number of posts (arranged in descending order).

Especially interesting for seeing who is participating in storyhour threads.

Cheers

I don't want that someone knows what i read and what i don't read!
Did you ever hear something about privacy?

To give you an technical answer:
Yes it is possible for the webmaster to check who reads
which thread, but I hope this will never be made public.

That gives me the creeps.
(In germany we get goosebumps from it ;-)

Most readers are guests (not logged in), so there's no way to identify them. If someone chooses to be logged in and not "invisible", you can see what they're reading via the Who's Online function.

Hey, thanks for all the answers, I'm glad I left it up!

To those of you who mentioned the Who's Online ... thanks. I never knew that was there or used it in that fashion.

Plane Sailing: thanks for the tip. Unfortunately since my Story Hours are fictional writing and not actual tabletop gaming experience, I don't get many posts. I can remember who's posted besides me. But it is an excellent tool for me to use in the games that I DM Online here!

Jinx: Sorry, didn't mean to creep you out. I in no way meant it to be a privacy issue at all.
