SHOULD 4e Come, WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR EN WORLD? THE 3e SITE???
I'm just feeling left out for 4e topics.
Seriously, EN World is the 3e site. SHOULD there be a 4e anytime soon (4 years) what does it mean for this site? Will you continue as a 3e site, create a new site for 4e? Have both?
Andy the originator, Mega the drama queen, Mania the insane, Al whom uses movie quotes to connect with the world he did not create, Ugh- primal urges and the only sane one of the group and DarkMania the Sith Lord
Lovin' the four 'B's of life- Beer, Babes, Buffets and Bombs. just being funny
Didn't you get the memo? We're all going to drink the kool-aid* so we can join the mother ship when 4e is announced. Be sure to wear white sneakers and a blue polyester track suit.
*But feel free to substitute sugar-free Crystal Light - we're all very proud of you for sticking to your resolution to monitor your blood sugar better.

Just a thought.
In reading the title bar on my browser, it says: "EN World - Morrus' D&D/d20 News & Reviews Site"
I don't see 3e anywhere on there. I don't think there's a problem. EN World started as a D&D 3e news site, but it's really a D&D/d20 news site. It's grown. No new name. No repurposing. It just fits.

Is it the 3e site though? 'cause lately all I'm seeing here are people who are ripping into 3E however subtly, and wishing that the next edition be like an older version of D&D. Which absolutely boggles my mind because if these people want to play that older verison of D&D there's really nothing stopping them from doing it NOW.
Anyway I'm calling into question that this is stiil a 3e site as there seems to have been a recent influx of haters as of late.

Otherwise, we would have booted Diaglo a long time ago.
Nah, Diaglo would still be here, along with his 3E collection that dwarfs mine by an order of magnitude.

If there's one dragon, it's a solo monster.
If there's five dragons, they're standard monsters.
If there's a dozen dragons, either most of them are minions or your DM is tired of the campaign.

Most people don't get that, they only see his catchphrase.
He hides his 3E books under his hat of d02.

Well, I expect the subtle "3" graphic in the backgorund wil change. But other than that, it'll be business as usual. It has been a long time since this could really be called a "3e site". The majority of conversation is about 3.xe, but only because that's the form of the game more folks play. We see a goodly deal about other editions of D&D, and at least some about other games altogether.
We'll continue to follow D&D (and rpgs in general) just as we always have - driven by the board member's desires.
We'd have a 4e forum for a while. Then we'd switch things so that 4e is the default assumption. Eventually 3e and 4e threads will happily co-exist, differentiated by thread tags.

I ain't linking to Piratecat's story hour...no sir, I just won't do it. He can just get the next half-million reads on his own.
Did I mention that I have a Livejournal? It's possible that I have.

I wonder if we'll see any "third party" (as it were) 4E Rumorzzz!!! sites popping up, or if everything will be confined to here. Thus far, it seems like it, but I can't help but feel nostalgic for the days before ENWorld when Eric Noah's 3E Rumor page was but one of a handful of sites that were posting them as they came out/were scooped.
Obviously, the field of interest and coverage of D&D has changed substantially since then, but if any sort of 4E involves playtesting on the level that 3E did, I would imagine that rumors would be all over, and it might be interesting to see some upstart sites try and find their footing.

And, since such rumors aren't all over, that would speak to no such playtesting at this time...
That being said, in my experience Eric Noah's original site was a bit unique in the quality and volume of its content. I think it was a bit of a fluke that it came off as it did, and grew to such amazing size. Now, with more and bigger sites around, I think it would be a bit difficult for a new site to do the same thing - sort of like a new company suddenly cropping up and beating WotC and White Wolf...
Which is to say that it isn't impossible, but I think it unlikely...

Well, for now we have a 4E news page. I think as stuff comes in, we'll have a lot of focus on 4E - when it happens.

i'm sure diaglo will be here when 4ed comes and goes as he was for 1ed, 2ed, etc...
It's very odd to talk about yourself in the third person, you know.
