Can We Go Easy?

I don't know exactly what happened, and I'm not placing blame, but I noticed that intervension by the moderators ended up escalating the tension on the Realistic Combat thread, rather than calming things down.

I can understand seeing the need to intervene, and I can understand wanting to crush any open defiance, but this has a terrible effect on a thread, and it leaves the entire thread tainted long after the fact.

I'd like to make two humble requests: First, can the moderators go easy when they enter a thread? Sometimes tempers have already simmered down, and the moderation reignites the conflict. Second, can the moderators go in and clean things up afterwards? Once half the posts on a page are content-free warnings and defensive rants, it's very hard to get things going again.

I hope I've expressed my concerns without stepping on anyone's toes.

Nope, gracefully put. It's been a hard week on the moderators, and I include myself in this; the ENnie issues have really created some frustration, and for whatever reason there's been a spate of other significant problems. I personally have banned or suspended more people in the last week than in the last two months combined.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback.
