Message Board/Browser Cache Issues

I'm having a problem when visiting the boards. For some reason whenever I try to load a page, either a forum or a specific thread, the browser always gives me the cached version of the page, even when the page has changed since it was last cached. This forces me to first link to whatever forum/thread page I want and then refresh it while holding the "option" key, thus forcing it to completely reload the page. I don't have this problem when visiting any other site, so apparently the board and my browser aren't communicating sufficiently for the browser to know that a page has changed. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have encountered the problem on both MacOS 9.2 and 10.1.5, both times using Internet Explorer 5.2.

Edit: Also, I don't have a problem when I go to a forum using the "Forum Jump" menu. Perhaps the form bypasses the cache?

It's something that a lot of Mac users have reported and which, so far, I've been unable to solve. I do know that some of the Mac users have managed to figure it out, but I don't know what it is they did.

Oooh, them's fightin' words!

Well, it's good to know that I'm not alone, I guess. Maybe I'll search back through the Meta forum to see if I can find another thread on the subject and see who's solved it. I hope the solution doesn't involve just turning off the cache entirely, that would be quite annoying.

Jeff Grubb managed to get some results by manually deleting his caches (and maybe his cookies as well, although I don't think so.) Look for a thread by Quartermoon from about a month ago for more detail on the problem.

Thanks PC. No one seems to have a permanent solution, though.

Thankfully, I managed to simply avoid the problem by using Mozilla instead. It runs a little slower, but not so much that it's painful.

Give Opera a try- it is pretty fast and may work for you.
