Will there be forum areas for older editions?

Will there be separate forums for OD&D, AD&D, 3ed in EnWorld?

6800 posts, eight years, and you don't post in Meta?

I'll move it down a bit later.

The answer is no, not like this; a forum wouldn't get enough traffic to support different forums for every edition. We're still discussing our new directory structure. No conclusions yet.

Possibly a forum for all pre-3rd edition versions of D&D might have enough traffic.

Well, it isn't as if the General forum is currently awash in older-edition posts. Usually,m we wait until we see enough sustained traffic on a subject such that it is making a current forum difficult to use before we create a new forum.

When Pathfinder news hit people demanded a new forum, and now look at all the threads that gets. Things have a way of seeming needed at first but it doesn't take long for people's interest to move on.

Really? My impression was that people didn't want a new forum for Pathfinder, and were upset that it was being moved out of General...

(And that they were right... indeed, look at all the threads that gets... Though admittedly, due to the heavy emphasis in Alpha testing, their needs are best met at Paizo's site, and certainly not here at ENWorld in which some places are outright hostile to them.)

A few of them made requests for their own forum here in meta. But like predicted there just wasn't enough sustained interest for one. And even the hatred for Pathfinder has died down a lot.

Well, what about the Rules and House Rules sections? Will they be shared between 3e & 4e, or will 3e related stuff now be relegated to the OGL section like Pathfinder?

I think if 3.x "general" and d20/ogl and pathfinder were all in one forum, that would be a high-enough interest place to sustain activity.

I would think the rules and house rules sections might be one place where separate subforums might be the most useful. I think stuff in the general forum for older editions will probably be ok, but rules and house rules postings from older editions will have a very good chance of dropping off the first page really fast as they get crowded out by all the 4e rules dicussions starting in June.
