MetaPost comments and questions about the messageboards and other parts of EN World. If you have a problem, this is where to go. Moderator email addresses are posted here.
Since some days ago, I run into the following problem:
The EN Boards' main page, boards, and even every single thread, don't automatically update for me when I enter them. Instead, they appear to me like they were when I last visited them.
Only when I refresh a page does it show its the current contents.
But on two other message boards that use the same software (not sure about the exact version, though) as EN World and on which I have set the same user options as here -
bondetamp's Godlike forum and rpg.net -, I don't seem to have this problem...
edit - bondetamp - just like EN World - uses vBulletin 2.2.6 and rpg.net uses vBulletin 2.2.1
edit - Argh!!! The problem is even in the "edit post" window!

You say it happens on the main site and on the boards? That puzzles me, because the only thing they have in common is that they're both the same colour! They're on different servers and not linked in any way at all.
A couple of other people have reported problems like this over the last few months, but, to be honest, I can't help you. I can't think of anything that could be causing it. If anyone does have an idea, let us know!

Nah, not the main EN World site; just the forums' main page.

I've mentioned this before in this forum...I have to clear out my browser's cache before I visit, or I just get the old pages from the last time.
It started to look like at was a only people who have Macs and use Netscape as their browser...is this true for any of you?
I just keep hoping it will magically go away. It did once before (back when we were having all the troubles, wich is when it started, too) but then it returned.
Originally posted by Darkness Not for me, at least: I'm using a PC with IE 6.
I am at the same.
If you have the space on your puter, then you may want to dl a seperate browser for EN world. It may be inconvenient, but it may save you some frustration.
You can also change the PHPSESSID to something random.
Look at this:
enworld.cyberstreet.com/newreply.php?s=&action=newreply&threadid=23087
You can try to change the part after ?s= to an alphanumeric string 32 characters long, as
944aa84088865766c1a79fbf660abd57
or
1111111111111111FFFFFFFFFFF11111

It had something to do with changing something about (IIRC) accessing a site by IP instead of name (or vice-versa? ). I think it also had to do with the firewall...
I'll ask my stepfather for the particulars; he'll probably remember them better than I do, given that it was his stuff that we had to fiddle around with.

I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago (shortly after the boards changed).
NT4 and IE 5.5
It went away after awhile.

Ask him, please. I think I've tried every possibility without success
