Question about someone having trouble registering here
Here's a message from the individual in question which I got from him at another board.

Subject: En World... How to get in??
Green Knight,
I tried registering with EnWorld and I have had no luck. (This is the third time). I put your name as the referring person (sorry, I didn't really know anyone else ) My username their was jablanc, so if you have to somehow "approve" my access to the ENWorld, please let me know what I can do to help...
I'd like to post my submission into the Fantasy setting... but I can't even post a reply to another post...
Just wanted to know....
Thanks in advance,
[Censored in case the individual would prefer his real name not be plastered all over the messageboard]
Hmm... The direct registration process doesn't have a field for a referring poster IIRC... And if you didn't put a referral thingie anywhere (which I assume, give what he said to you), I really wonder how he tried to register...
Anyway: If he's successfully registered, but is still waiting for e-mail confirmation, an Admin can open his account manually.

Actually, it does. It's in that optional area of the registration. I just tried to register the ID for him and I saw it.
That's what it says.
Oh - ok. Heh. Must have changed, then, since I registered.
Actually, come to think of it, there's a "Referrals" listing in each user's profile nowadays (I thought they were only for referral links, but obviously there's another option now).
So let's check yours...
Yep, he already counts even though he can't post yet.

As for the referral thing, I didn't even know what that was for til now. I thought it had something to do with selling stuff. Like a feedback rating.
Well, soon
EDIT: Huh? How come I ended my post, there? Damn cold. Must've had a sneezing fit while I was writing this. Anyway, I'll message the guy and remind him to check his e-mail for notifications.

I first saw it on another vB board (and also learned what they are about) a while ago but I've since seen a few here as well since Morrus activated the option... I think Morrus, Piratecat and kreynolds have one each - so they're quite rare at the moment.

Also tell him to check whether he can log in, though, 'cause I'm not sure if an e-mail notification is actually sent if an Admin changes this manually!
(Note: "awaiting e-mail notification" is a status - like member or moderator or community supporter or whatever - and if an Admin then changes that status to "member," it's probable that it works differently than it normally would.)

That was in reference to a comment which you made and later edited out.

Yeah, being optional, I don't see many people filling it out. That and some people like myself find their way here on their own, rather than being referred.

I'll make sure to mention that to him. Thanks for the help.

*nods* I know; hence, my answer.

Agreed. Of course, many people have been here since the old boards anyway...

I'm glad that I could help.
