looks like its going to be down again, 2 weeks in a row.
well I logged on today, saw that they are moving the site. So it will be down again this week :rolleyes: You got to love it. Then when i get used to the way it looks, i bet they will change that again, too.

So Ken, I'm just wondering, do you run a large website? And if you do, is it ever down? And how do you pay for it?
Because if you do have experience keeping a massive, heavily used website up and running 24/7, I'm sure Morrus would like any tips you could give him.
On the other hand, if you don't know the first thing about what's involved, you might consider being a tad less critical. Because you know, I am absolutely certain that Morrus hasn't taken EN World down just to inconvenience you.
KenM, I see that Piratecat tried to be nice to you in your previous thread. Since you decided to continue to be obnoxious, I'm not going to be so nice.
1) There is no "They". There certainly isn't a shadowy organisation trying to deprive you of your god gven rights. All there is is little old me, trying his damn best to keep this free site going for your benefit. It's people like you who make me wonder why I bother.
2) If you actually read the message on the front page instead of making up what you'd like it to say, you'll see that it does not involve downtime at all. It merely means that you'll have to use the enworld.cyberstreet.com/news/ address for a day or two.
3) The reason for that is that I am currently paying out over $1000 per month for 3 servers. For your benefit. That comes to £12000 per year. I can't afford that. So I'm going to reduce it to one server which will cost me a third of that. If you are willing to pony up the extra $8000 then I'll be glad to keep all three servers on for another year.

Yeah, that's right. I provide this free website, spend vast amounts of my money and time for one reason - just to ruin your life. That, in fact, is my raison detre.
You want my suggestion? If you don't like the way I do things, go somewhere else.
4) Finally - if you don't start acting a little more poilte around here, you're going to outstay your welcome very fast. People have made an attempt to be nice to you, and you respond with downright obnoxiousness. One of the conditions of you posting on these free messageboards is that you treat everyone with politeness and respect. In your case, I'm afraid the requirement of politeness is now higher than for everyone else - aren't you lucky? You've got your very own personalised, enhanced terms and conditions of use!

Ok, it won't be down, my bad. Kahn (sp?) love the thing with piffany, where you get it? And I did not insult anyone until they insulted me first. I also think this time I WAS more polite then the last theread i started.
Look at it this way; the Enworld boards are more stable and more often than not, faster than the WotC boards. They don't even handle d20 news or reviews. Yes there have been glitches, but as Morrus has said, he's moving stuff around. There still might be some rough patches, but lets live with it and NOT take it for granted.
Didn't we... back when this was still Eric's site, mind, and he managed to get hosted on rpgplanet.com... that's an aspect of the gamespy network. Huge, massive, mega corporation of webservers... planetquake.com, etc etc... anyways...
Didn't we keep overloading their stuff?
If so, I think that says something for how much of a server-destroyer we are.

heheh, anyways thats actually a character I used to play, a Half orc barbarian cleric with a unicron horn magaically attached to his forehead (don't ask, lol) They called him Kang the Uni-Orc Anyways glad yall are back I was startin to get all rashy from not being able to visit my favorite website I appreciate the hard work and guess I need to get my kiester in gear get a jobby job (I'm a student) and contribute to the cause

What time did it come back up? I last checked at 10:00 pm central, and couldn't get in. It's now 6:25 am central, and here I am.
I predict we will follow the same pattern today. In other words, sometime within the next hour, access will slow to a crawl, if anyone can get in at all.
Do we know what the folks at Cyberstreet are doing? It's odd that this has started happening every day. You can almost set your watch by it. Are they suffering from repeated denial of service attacks or something?
Anyways glad yall are back I was startin to get all rashy from not being able to visit my favorite website
