What do all the icons on the left mean?

I've been here a while now, and I've never been able to figure out what all the icons on the left collum mean. I've checked the board FAQ, but didn't see anything.

Check the bottom of the forum, that should help.

Basicially, the open envelope means there's unread posts in the thread. the closed envelope means you've read all the posts in the thread. A black dot marks a thread you've posted in.
