NEW FORUM REQUEST: Conventions & Stuff

I hereby request a new forumn to be added to the D&D/d20 System Forums group to be titled Conventions & Stuff. Further I request that all current Gencon & Gameday threads be moved to this forumn.

I would like to be able to quickly find convention threads rather than dig through General RPG Discussion to find them. And there are enough threads active in this vein to warrant this having it's own forumn. In my opinion.

What about yours? Add your yea or nay to this and let the mods hear you!!

The more stuff gets put in its own special forum, the less it gets viewed. That's just my opinion, I actually don't feel strongly either way.

I'm moving this to Meta for consideration.

Heh, fair enough. But it is getting hard to keep up on the convention threads, there's so many of them.

I kind of like the idea of a forum for Conventions and Game Days, but on the other hand, the limiting of exposure that these threads have is an overriding concern for me. Exposure is the lifeblood of a convention or a game day, and smaller cons that get moved there would likely languish too much.

If there's one dragon, it's a solo monster.
If there's five dragons, they're standard monsters.
If there's a dozen dragons, either most of them are minions or your DM is tired of the campaign.

While I agree that the current batch of GenCon threads are making it difficult to keep up with them, moving htem to their own forum will KILL the chance of gameday and small con threads being read, and they need all the publicity they can get by being on the General forum.

It's just the way it is that minor forums don't get the traffic they deserve. I for one can almost guarantee that I'll stick my head in the Con Forum (if such were to exist) about twice a year tops once the GenCon threads die out.

Hmm.. Concerns for lack of traffic noted.

At the very least though I could use a forumn for coordinating the Ennies and the ENWorld / ENPublishing booth - most probably a private forumn hidden away here in Meta..

I've started preliminary sketches for a booth Jason, but I need to know exact floor space before doing any construction and I also need to know what kind of budget we're looking at and whether or not we should start a fund raiser for it.

Usually there's no more than one thread a week about a convention somewhere in the world - not enough, it seems to me, to generate the regular traffic needed for such a forum to do its job.

Perhaps we could think up a tag and encourage people to use it in their real-life-gathering thread titles; [Con] or [RLG], for example. Trouble is, people moght forget to put that in.
