Message Icons

See those nifty "Message Icons" which you can select when posting a new thread? You know, the ones which look like these:




And so on ... well, Squirel Nutkin has replaced the default message icons at Nutkinland with icons appropriate to his messageboards, and thinking about it, we really should have icons instead of the tags we currently use, like [OT], [AU], [Humour] and so on.

So, what tags would we need? Here's my prelim list:

Humour
3.0
1st Edition
2nd Edition
Movies
TV
Books
Comics
AU
Dragon
Dungon
Poly
NPC
Monster
Item

Ermm... any more? I'm sure there are many I've missed!

Maybe to separate them a bit from generic off-topic threads, how about "News" and/or "Science" tags. And I'm sure the Story-Hour-ers and Publishers would make great use of a "Self-Plug" tag!

Seeing the initial list, is it then safe to assume that any rules thread will default to 3.5 if it does not contain [3.0]?

Perhaps:

- Convention (GenCon with its own icon?)
- ENnies (or Gen Con EN World RPG Awards, etc.)
- Forgotten Realms
- Paizo
- Publisher (could still be followed by the [publisher name] text)

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Also, will things like [OT, Humor] be doable just with icons -- putting the OT and humor icons one after the other, for example?

OOC = Out of Character
REC = Recruiting
FULL = well, full.

Playing the Game is all In Character, so I don't see the need for a seperate IC icon, except maybe for completeness' sake.

We could combine these two into a single AD&D tag; we have so few of these threads that one ought to suffice.

Great Idea.

If the IC forum gets any icons... we will obviously use the 3.0 Icon

We use some tags sometimes...

[Recruiting]

But those are just secondary to the need for ones like a 3.0 one.
