Search function down?

Am I the only one who hasn't been able to Search for the last couple of weeks? It keeps telling me I don't have the rights to access that function. Is it just a glitch with the new boards or is it related to my account?

Odd; I'm not aware of any ongoing issues. Is this a problem for anyone else?

I also recently upgraded from Windows 98 to XP Pro. Could it be a setting on my OS that's preventing it from working?

Very weird. You have a CS account, so there should be no problem, and I can't think of an OS problem which would cause it. What message are you getting, exactly?

"You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules.
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

The only other thing I can possibly think of is that somehow I messed something up when I recently changed the email address in my profile. I changed it then realized I typed in the wrong address, which would have sent the confirmation to either a bogus addy or one being used by someone else. To correct it I hit Back on my browser and resubmitted it and then received confirmation at the correct address and replied from there to reactivate my account.

Could the "may be awaiting activation" bit somehow be tied to the fact that I couldn't reply to the confirmation first sent to the wrong email address?

Come to think of it, when I was changing my email address, my profile had a field to enter a Custom Title. I thought "cool, I'll have to type something in there" then after my email goof when I hit Back on my browser the Custom Title field was missing and hasn't been there ever since.

So I'm guessing my status as a Community Supporter somehow got deactivated even though it still says it under my name.

So any suggestions from the Mods on this? Is there something about my account that can get reactivated? Should I start over with another one? Just not worry about it? Its not a huge issue if its the latter since my Supporter rights were a gift but it was kind of nice to be able to Search.

Niles, welcome! Search is only available to Community Supporters (see the link at the top of this page), of which Kai Lord is one. A community supporter account gets you a cool custom title, private messaging, the ability to search, and access (via the forum jump bar) to Who's Online.

If you want to "fake" searching, you can sort forums by thread starter, number of posts, number of views, or thread title. Just click on the column headers.

Where's the "forum jump bar?"

Bottom right hand corner; it says "forum jump" next to it, and lets you get immediately to any forum. Up near the top, you can also go to Who's online and private messages.

And in the gym.
