MetaPost comments and questions about the messageboards and other parts of EN World. If you have a problem, this is where to go. Moderator email addresses are posted here.
So I went browsing the forums, trying to check out the play-by-post games, and I didn't have much luck sorting it out.
Can anyone help? What's involved? How much time needs to be committed to it? Is there a particular forum/place to go if you're interesting in joining?
I haven't decided if I want to do it, but I thought I'd check it out. I just got lost over there.

Under "gaming Action" There are 2 threads
1) Talking the Talk; is for the out of Character set up and OOC posting for the games. This is where you will find games starting.
2) Playing the game is where the storys and In Character action is.
Well, the place you would go if you wish to join a Play By Post game is the Talking the Talk forum. That is the place where Out of Character discussion takes place as well as recruiting. If a particular game is recruiting, it will be indicated in the title of the thread, like so. Mutants and Masterminds[Recruiting], to use my game as an example. When the game is full, it is generally renamed to show that it is not recruiting any longer, again, to use mine as an example: Awakenings(OOC).
Time commitment varies from game to game, but in every case, your GM will explain what it is that they are looking for in a potential player. Generally, posting is fairly regular during the week and it slows down on the weekend.
As to what is involved, well, for any game you are going to play in, you should have the rule book, or, if the Storyteller is willing to work with you and help you, you may not, but it is always a very good thing. any SRDs are probably fine as well. Other then that, each game is different, the storyteller will explain things for their game when they post the recruiting thread.
I hope this has answered your questions, feel free to ask anymore, I will try my best to help you.
Thank you both! That helps a bunch. Looking through that forum, I've noticed that there aren't many straight D&D games (greyhawk, FR, Kalamar, etc.).
I'll keep my eyes peeled and maybe hop on one if there's an opening.
Thanks again for the help.

I've never even played D20 Modern. Don't really know much about it.
