How does one change user names?

I just noticed that Darrin Drader's Baraendur nick became Whisperfoot. How does one's user name change?

It has to be done by an Admin. Tell us what you want your new username to be and one of us will take care of it.

Ah, so it's voluntary. I was confused, and thought that "playful punishment" had gone a step beyond title and icon changes. Thanks Eric!

Oh! Oh! I have a related question. Can you merge usernames? Like, can you take two usernames, and merge thier posttotals into one? Like, if someone made a new username but wanted all the posts he made with his last one to still be editable, can you "transfer responsibility" of those posts (and retroactivly change the name on all of them from the old one to the new)?

Can't any admin remove the "secondary" account and add to the postcount total of the "primary" account?

Sure, but that neither changes the name on those old posts nor makes them editable.

Good point. I suppose the secondary account could be given a name similar to the primary account with the addition of an underscore on the end but anything would be patch job. If there isn't a "Merge Accounts" feature it might be worth sending an email into the software development team for consideration in future versions.
