The good news is that, this late in the season, the ocean's cooling off, and that means the odds of a significant hurricane are decreasing. Doesn't mean it's not possible, but it means that:
(a) the conditions that are favorable for hurricane formation are rapidly deteriorating
(b) if a hurricane does form, it's not likely that it'd power up to a Cat 4-5 (then again, a Cat 1, or even a tropical storm, can be more than enough trouble if you're the one that it's landing on top of).

I have no clue, but I think it's getting pretty late in the season for them isn't it?
It is indeed, but the hurricane season isn't over yet. There's currently a swirling pattern off the coast of Africa that looks promising -- in a tropical cyclone sorta way.
I heard a while back how usually come mid to late September, tropical storms stopped heading into the Gulf region and instead tended to head up the Atlantic coast instead. This has been an unusual year in more ways than one, I guess.
Hopefully this won't end up becoming Category 7, The End of the World!

Tropical Depression 27, baby! Tropical Storm Gamma should be in the Caribbean by nightfall.
Fortunately for the U.S., but unfortunately for those in Cental America, the current forecast has it pretty much keeping a straight westerly line, heading for Honduras / Nicaragua.
The other good news is it doesn't look likely to become particularly strong...it's forecast to not make it to hurricane-force winds until Saturday.
