And I apologize if I've come off that way to anyone on these boards.
A local club was targeted by people who found the activities of the club to be immoral. They stuffed unpostmarked flyers into the mailboxes of local residents, breaking the law to "alert" the town to the "problem." The landlord confronted the club organizers and pressured them into moving out of the clubhouse. Even though police and town official made it clear that the club was doing nothing illegal and that, in fact, the "morally upright crusaders" were the only ones to have broken a law by stuffing flyers in people's mailboxes.
People need to get a life and stay out of other's business.
I'm mostly just venting, but would like to hear of anyone else's similar experiences.

I'm sure they were only practicing witchcraft and sucuming to the influences of the devil. You know, like a Harry Potter book club.

I thought the days of religious zealots hit their peak when one of the vendor's van was tipped over at GenCon by protestors.

Really? Just tabletop RPGs, minis, CCGs and board games? Wow, that's really weird this day and age.
Now, if they were LARPing (not to make a statement about LARPs or those that play them) and had extreme makeup, black clothes, gothic symbols and such, I can see how an uneducated local could construe it as a scary threat to their kids. Fear of the unknown is a powerful thing.
Books currently in play: Dungeon & Dragon Magazine (*Age of Worms AP*), 4e Core books
Current Campaign: Age of Worms, Episode #4- "Hall of Harsh Reflections" - converted for 4e. -- Arryk, Human Cleric/Radiant Servant 12; Valkondinar, Human Wizard/Battle Mage 12; Frindo Meadmaker, Halfling Rogue/Shadow Assassin 12; Moo'Haa, Half-Elf FeyLock/Fey Touched 12; Skin'zorrn, Dragonborn Paladin/Justicar 12 -- This party rocks!

I don't think you appreciate just how problematic all fun is. Even games like Yatzee and Sorry can lead to fun which leads to other bad things like dancing.

My condolences to your club. I'm rather surpised this kind of thing happens in this day and age.
The closest thing to that that happened to me, was a protest from the society for women's studies at my university, due to the film club showing anime on a public film night (the words "degrading" and "misogynistic" were uttered multiple times, I believe). It was a little surreal, to be honest.
D&D never got that kind of response in my home town, we were just treated as weird for not wanting to play cricket or rugby.

Or in other ways - actually, it's not about "how to have fun". You're not supposed to have fun at all! It's better that way, trust me.

*rolls a Gather Information Check*
I'm sorry, somethings not adding up here. Do you have links to a story perhaps? What town / city did this take place in? Is there a police report? Can you provide more information as to what was going on (was it Magic the Gathering, DnD, Video games, and Warhammer that people found so offensive)? Did the town / city ban said game?
The landlord did nothing wrong, he has a right to decide how his property is used. Even if he is the victim of false / misleading information, its his property and his choice on who uses it.

That would depend on the applicable legislation and possible the terms of the lease as well. We don't have enough information to know if the landlord was within his/her rights.
Landlords don't have completely free choice on who uses their property. If they sign a lease for a specific period of time and the tenant does nothing to violate said lease, the landlord can't simply kick the tenant out before the lease expires.

Unless they had a lease, which is a legally binding contract. Kicking someone off your property while they have a lease that they have not violated is against the law.
Possession is 9/10ths of the law, and a lease gives the tenant possession. I've gone to court a number of times against scumlords before.

Spoiler:
Every edition moves us closer to a better game, in my view. And guess what, 4E will screw some stuff up, just like 3E made monster design a horrific, creativity squashing nightmare (ok, I'm overstating it, yes, you could still make real cool monsters, but it became more of a rules lawyer-y cookie cutter solution which I don't favor). 4E will do things wrong. Maybe it will be that 1st level characters will be too powerful. I don't know. But experimenting is the way to do it--and, as it so happens, it is the TRADITION of D&D. Gary, god rest his soul, didn't stop with the white box. He did Greyhawk. Blackmoor. He added new classes. Psionics. New monsters. Eldritch Wizardry. Then he tried to unify it all with AD&D. If D&D has a tradition, its change, growth and expansion. If it didn't, we'd all just have STR INT and WIS. - Orcus

Okay, assuming the Landlord was operating inside the lease and the scope of the law
(Forgot to bring my law book +3 today)
I guess we also have to assume that the club in question was also operating within the scope of law and the rules of lease as well.
Need more info all around

You didn't hang the "Virgin Sacrifice Postponed Until Further Notice" sign next to the "Help Wanted - No Experience Necessary" sign did you?
