Just then, a man who had been some distance behind you in the street catches up with you, and seeing your hesitation at the door of the temple, says, "Excuse me please," and enters the temple. (Evidently, the schedule of services tells when large gatherings of folk can be found here, but does not prevent those who have a particular need from entering at other times. )
[ooc: sorry, I should have made that more clear initially.)
"Good day Sister Lenora, we have recently arrived in town and there are some rumours that you are worried about dark cultists in the area? The townsfolk don't take you seriously, it seems, but the Moonmaiden guided my steps to this very town from halfway across the world. I think you might be correct, can you tell us what you know?" Khellek replies, bowing to the lady.
"Oh! So sorry, you sneaked right up on me! I was just doing my daily devotions to Our Lady Avandra, and I didn't even here you come in. Now, you say you've heard rumors of a cult? Yes, I've also heard those same rumors about town, but, really, it seems to me like a bunch of idle speculation by people who are idle when they should be spending their time in prayer. I have seen no cultists, nor do I anticipate seeing them. Is there some other way that I can help you?"
"Sister, we encountered a group of the lizard men, the kobolds, as we travelled here. If the rumors of the cult activity were true, could that be related to the kobolds being more aggressive?"
"Your question is groundless -- there is no cult activity, so, therefore, it cannot be making any other creatures more aggressive. I submit to you that you did NOT encounter the creatures you say that you did, but only experienced a fligt of fancy while you were stopped to eat, or something. I beg you, please, do not alarm the good folk of Winterhaven with your dreadful tales of monsters running loose in the area!"
"You misapprehend me, Sir Eladrin. I did not mean to imply that you were troubling ME, I only intended to appeal to you to take great care NOT to trouble the good folk of Winterhaven. We are always happy to have visitors to our town, but if you insist upon alarming our citizens unnecessarily with your wild, unsubstantiated tales of woe, then it were best if you left our fair village and put us FAR behind you."
Khellek listens to the exchange and then shakes his head, "No, I have nothing to ask, my apologies for wasting your time, please go back to your devotions." the shifter says.
He turns and leaves the temple. Once outside, he pulls Elerosse aside, "There is something odd about the lady, we should keep our eye open for anything unsual about her. Perhaps after we deal with these kobolds we can dig a bit deeper"
"I agree, Khellek. Perhaps the sister is involved with the cult activities herself. She could also simply perfer to be naive. We need to be on our guard."
for Leif
Everything I could think to say to the sister would have provided her with more information than Elerosse was willing to give.

It's cool. I was just messin' with you anyway. But that's very wise a play this one close to the vest. Now if you just knew WHO you were playing AGAINST, you'd be, as they say, crappin' in tall cotton!
"I'm for making a start on the kobold menace as well . . . it couldn't hurt to build some goodwill amongst the townsfolk, and to begin earning our fees as well."
