OOC: I did this once already, but it didn't stick, so here goes again:
IC:
Aimhirghin and Khellek both are unable to strike their opponents with their arcane power. Basher7 obliterates his kobold foe with his mighty craghammer, knocking its head completely off! Elerosse slows a small knot of kobolds, which will assist the party very much, I'm thinking. And, finally, Tarrk is also unable to connect with his blow.
The kobolds close to the party all send their weapons whistling through the air and totally muff their shots. Those who are slowed just mill about aimlessely, and those behind the ones who are slowed are forced to do likewise.
there are seven Kobold minions who emerge from behind the waterfall and make their way quickly to the party. Behind the minions is a small knot of three more formidable kobolds. These kobolds are sheltered somewhat by the minions (50% cover). Any ranged attacks that you have need to be made now. The opponents will be in melee range next round. They are not taking the time for any ranged attacks, but are rather moving in a ground-eating pace in phalanx formation.
Khellek moves near his bardic ally and fires a ray of light at one of the large goblins (the one Aimhirghin tried to effect). The blast of light easily avoids the lesser foes and slams into the creatures face.

OOC: Does '50% cover' mean 'cover with -2 to atk rolls' in 4e-speak? The alternative appears to be 'superior cover with -5 to atk'. 4e PHB p. 280
IC: Elerosse eyes the new group of kobolds advancing on the party and, calling forth a orb of force, lobs the orb at the middle of the pack of kobolds. The orb missed the middle kobold and explodes, with shards hitting various kobolds in the group.
OOC and Actions
Force Orb (encounter power) 4e PHB p. 160 range 20 (so no issue there)
two attack spell, primary directed at middle one in the group, secondary at each kobold adjacent to that one.
I used -2 for cover for the 'middle' kobold since there is a group and I'm trying to aim for a particular one, even though it may not be one of the bigger kobolds in the back. I dropped cover for the secondary attack.
Move - none
Standard - Force Orb (encounter power, p160) range 20
primary attack: Int. v. Reflex d20+2 (+4 INT -2 cover) = 1+2=3 (natural 1) missed the primary target
secondary attack: Int v. Reflex d20+4 (+4 INT) = 19+4=23 (should hit even if cover is still -2) secondary attacks 2-9 Int v. Reflex 1d20+4 → [13,4] = (17) 1d20+4 → [9,4] = (13) 1d20+4 → [13,4] = (17) 1d20+4 → [19,4] = (23) 1d20+4 → [13,4] = (17) 1d20+4 → [5,4] = (9) 1d20+4 → [8,4] = (12) 1d20+4 → [14,4] = (18)
Since Force Orb has a secondary attack that looks like a burst, does that mean I need to roll a different attack roll for each kobold, using the same damage roll, like we did with Thunder Wave? If so, how many more attack rolls are needed, Leif?

Reason: added secondary attacks 2-9 per DM

Like my previous post says, there are 7 minions and three more formidable-looking kobolds. they're all clustered-up together, so you can roll (a separate attack) against each of the ten of them with this attack. (Like you said, individual attack rolls, one damage roll that will be used against all of them that are hit.)
Tarrk, the two Kobold Skirmishers are wearing hide armor, carrying shields, and are armed with spears. The Kobold Dragonshield is wearing hide armor, carrying what looks for all the world like a HUGE scale as a shield, and is armed with a short sword. Khellek's blast of light strikes him full in the face (11hp dam) and staggers him, but he keeps coming. Elerosse's burst of magical energy erupts and devastates all of the minions in the group, slaying them outright. (Bro, forget the misses -- I took to long to update, so this is the price I pay.) Two Kobold skirmishers in hide armor and with shields, carrying spears, and one Kobold Dragonshiels also in hide with a dragon scale shield and a short sword remain. The Skirmishers attack Basher7 and Khellek and miss. The Dragonshield attack Tarrk and also misses. Aimhirghin thinks he sees something partially concealed behind the far side of the waterfall ... is that a foot?
