RtToEE in the Greyhawk setting

I'm about to play the "Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil" with my group. I really like the adventure, but I wish to expand on the history given in the module to fit in with the 'canon' Greyhawk world (I'm playing 3e rules in 591 CY, and I'm using the 3e Living Greyhawk Gazetteer and some 2e sourcebooks/boxed sets to make up the details of the Flanaess).

Any Greyhawk gurus out there can help me with details of the history of the Temple? Perhaps info on the 'canon' outcome of the first Temple module? For you hardcore-Greyhawkians, how well does Monte Cook's RtToEE adventure fit in?
