Critter Caches or other suggestions (can't remember your plans):
Birds/flying animals
Legendary animals/monsters (not really in line with the line?) from the real world
Tie critters to existing monsters somehow (frogs with bullywugs - or "frogmen")
Critters organized by terrain? (swamps, for example)?
Plant creatures

Good suggestions. I particularly like the legendary monsters idea; there are a lot of things you could do with that.
I want to do plant monsters, but I'm not sure if there's enough interest to warrant an entire Critter Cache on the subject. I might roll that into another larger release.
Thanks for the feedback.

I just want to note that I'd buy a Critter Cache of plant monsters.
My idea (it was something that I wanted to do, and even started, but I get stuck at one point)
"FRIEND FOLIO"
A collection of creatures, mostly humanoid, that could serve as societies in a campaign setting. Each race has a few suggested histories, niches, and variants. After that section, each one has some feats tailored for that race, as well as some equipment and magic items. They would also have any specific pack or riding animals that the race might use that's unique or special to that race. Finally, some "monster manual" stat blocks for other variations of the creature that you might encounter as a foe.
I know it sounds like a lot, but it's more designed as a series...
Chris

What's missing...that creature I told you about earlier of course . In fact more ICe Age, extinct mammals would be good. Many can serve as normal animals in a fantasy world.
Are you planning on doing things like goblins, where you present a whole lot of alternative goblin stats? I have done a few things along this line and thought it might be viable. You know, creatures already in 4E, but a bunch of alternative stats, so every goblin caster is not a hexblade.
Cheers. C

Okay, it seems there is more interest in plant critters than I first thought.

Being a big paleontology buff, I'm quite familiar with the chalicotheres. I'm kind of kicking myself for not including an animal like that in the next Critter Cache.

You know, I'd love to do something like that, but the current GSL prohibits that kind of thing. However, a new series of Blackdyrge products will be making a 4E appearance in the near future, and they will feature something like what you describe above, but in a way that doesn't violate the GSL.

I just bought Prehistoric Beasts (as well as Big Bugs). I want to say how pleased I am with these purchases. The Prehistoric Beasts book, especially, covers its subject remarkably well, so that just about any given dino could be statted up using this book (along with the two behemoths from the Monster Manual).
I'm also hoping to see additional volumes in this series - the "legendary monsters" idea is particularly appealing. I also would like to put in a vote for plant-based creatures.

Thanks. It’s always nice to hear when people enjoy your work.
Yeah, something along the lines of "legendary monsters" is definitely going to happen. And apparently, I might be in serious trouble if I don’t do a Critter Cache on plant monsters.
Next up is Animals & Beasts, which features a lot of the animals you have been missing from the Monster Manual. After that, it's fey critters, which I literally just finished writing today. That one will feature some old favorites from past editions (the spriggan, for example), more missing monsters, and a more classic take on the basic fey mythology (completely optional).
I'll post the cover and a monster list for the upcoming fey Critter Cache as soon as I have the art.

Just to let you know (and all who are interested) Alluria Publishing has just released a plant-based PC race, with monster blocks as well. Its not a whole monster book, but its a start .
Anyway, I too would like to see a plant-based critter cache, that would rock.
Maybe Alluria and Goodman/Blackdirge could arrange so that oaklings could be in there as well. I'm up for that. Let me know

Fantastic! PLEASE include members of the deer (deer, elk, moose, caribou, Irish Elk) family, if possible.
Sorry, Colonel, I focused on the critters that were obviously missing from the Monster Manual: lions, tigers, apes, etc.
However, there will be many more Critter Caches, and eventually, I'll get around to doing Animals & Beasts II, which can include some of the neat animals I couldn't put in the first go around (like the megaloceros you mentioned).

How about doing a poll on the naming conventions. The one thing I don't like about these awesome monster books are the video game style names. "Blue Horned Behemoth strike!"
I'd love to just see 'em called what they're supposed to be called and not in parenthesis as a nod to what's really going on.
I totally disagree with Joe. In a fantasy setting w/o scientists, they would be named after their appearance, not some kind of naming convention they'd never have in that world.
