Bardsandsages Goblin Sharpshooter (Lvl 2)
[Bards and Sages] Adventure Havens: Specialty Shops

One of the more annoying parts of running a game is deciding how and when players will be able to sell or trade their hard-fought treasures. How many shops really have 2,000 gold lying around to take that unwanted magical weapon off the party’s hands? Why feel obligated to put a mage’s guild in even city just so players can have a place to buy upgrades?

Adventure Havens: Specialty Shops presents twelve ready-to-use locales for your 3.5/OGL fantasy games. Each “shop” is less a physical storefront than it is an adventure in and of itself. Each location is presented with a full description of the locale, important NPCs, items available for sale, and story seeds to make the location a part of your adventure. Players can stumble upon these shops in their travels, or pick up tales from travelling bards and go seek them out. Make shopping an adventure!

In this product:
Nyebi Barter Circle: A small village deep in the jungle. The locals are always ready to trade a variety of magical baubles and trinkets for weapons to defend themselves from their enemies. But where are all these magic items actually coming from?

Albersvale Estate: An enchanted wood that is home to rare plants, exotic animals, and other elusive spell components. The estate’s owner allows adventures to hunt and harvest on his property in exchange for coin.

Hands of Jibaar: This “church” dabbles in operating gambling halls, but is better known for loaning rare and powerful magic items to those that can afford to make the appropriate donation.

Wishing Waters:
A legendary well that reputedly places random enchantments on weapons and armor when an offering is made.

Castle Grymond: Deep below the sewers of Castle Grymond, a mysterious entity sells valuable goods and magic items. But he doesn’t accept coins. Instead, customers pay in secrets.

Lord Marn’s Estate: The dwarven adventurer Marn has passed on without any heirs. And now his entitle estate is up for auction. Players can find all sorts of fabulous treasures, and surprises, when the bidding starts.

Crusteye Market: The goblins Grimet and Skutger are an unusual pair of entrepreneurs. Adventurers brave, or foolish, enough to deal with them can find exceptional deals on an assortment of “trash” the goblins have found over the years. But no window-shopping, because those that don’t want to deal might find themselves turned into dinner.

Vizycryx’s Hoard: A young silver dragon looking to increase the size of his hoard in an unusual way. For Vizcryx, its quantity, not quality, that matters, so savvy traders can trade large items for smaller, possibly more valuable treasures.

The Convoy: Ussa the Halfling is a travelling merchant renown for being able to acquire almost any item…for a price. His methods, however, may not always be 100% legal.

Girt’s Salvage Yard: A boat salvage shop near a busy port, Girt not only often has abandoned or salvaged treasure for sale, but also seafaring vessels.

Shifters: This band of traveling wizards specialize in marketing magical wares, much to the dismay of the more traditional factions in the magical community that feel their methods cheapen the mystique of the art.

Birus’ Hut: An infamous weaponsmith banished from his own homeland, the reclusive Birus is perhaps the greatest armorer and weaponsmith alive and capable of crafting astounding arms and armor. Assuming, of course, he shaken from his melancholy.

This product includes almost 50 NPC stat blocks, with indexes that sort the NPCs by name, class, race, and Challenge Rating. NPCs range from CR 1 to 21, and are based on SRD races, monsters, and classes for ease of integration into your game.

Available in PDF format and in print.
