I am proud to announce Blackbyrne Publishing's first published adventure is now available as a free download. "Within Death's Gaze" is a 4th edition compatible, 6tth level mini-adventure for 4-8 players and should be completed in one evening. As I said it is free, however in return I am asking for quality feedback (please don't just tell me it sucked or it was awesome, I need to know WHY) so I can hone my writing skills for future, full sized adventures. So, right now, without delay, go to blackbyrnepublishing.com and go to "adventures" to click on the link for the adventure. With a little luck (and a decent tax return) I should have the first full adventure up and available (sorry, going to have to charge for that one) after the first of the year.

Welcome to publishing! I took a brief look at the adventure - one of the things worth pointing out is that it reads a little difficultly - perhaps a little more sectioning/use of bold text would help to separate out various sections of the encounters. I'm also assuming you're aware of Blackdirge Publishing, which could be confused with your name!

Thanks for the feedback! I had to squish some of the text because my first goal was to have it printed in booklet form requiring that I keep it at 12 pages, but that wasn't cost effective as I had hoped it would be. Also I was very limited for artwork and could only find so much public domain, most of the artists willing to work for free (since the adventure was free) were too busy to submit work without delaying the project until after the first of the year. Future adventures will flow much smoother and have more artwork. And yes, I did find that name pop up when I did some searching, but there should be enough of a difference to not confuse people.

So I thought I would turn this into a mini-blog of sorts. Just wanted to say how things are coming together nicely for the next, full adventure, "The Hidden Current". I have 4 pages of JUST background information for the main NPC's. My goal for this and all other future adventures is to focus on the role playing first and foremost, with the mechanics second. Until then, I encourage everyone to drop by my site and have a look at the mini-adventure I created and am offering for free download, "Within Death's Gaze". The feedback I am currently getting is over the top positive and it's pumping me up to make the next one longer, more detailed and even better!
