Not sure if everyone realizes it but Saturday is Rob's birthday. Saturday night's socializing / drinking / card games / Rock Band is his choice of birthday party. A couple people have put some real games in Saturday night.
Now, we have a lot of people coming to the gameday (I'm estimating about 17 without our gaming group). In terms of space, Saturday night only one great space for a real game is "available" (the basement). We wanted to have the pool table open for people who want to play during socializing time (it has a cover for games at other times). Living room will have the Rock Band. I think the downstairs - living room, FL room and backyard will be full of people drinking, talking and making a lot of noise.
I am concerned that if we run two games during this time, that's approximately 14 people and won't leave many others for the party. However, neither Rob or I want people to do stuff they don't want to do and if people would rather have a real game, well, okay. The assumption with card or boards or (MY choice PARTY) games is that people CAN jump in and out as necessary and wanted. Can't do that with a real game.
My opinion is this. Most gamedays only have two games. We're trying to squeeze in a game on Friday night, and we also have games on Sunday. So, my own thought is that running one real game during that time is good. But, that is just me and I / we are open to hearing what everyone else wants to do. If people want to have more games during that time speak up and let's discuss it.
Also, there was talk of trying to run two slots on Sunday. I think with people having to leave to drive as they do, it would be very tough to do this so we'll stick with one slot. Last year we did 11-3. Is that still okay with people?

You are right, it would be tough to do a second slot on Sunday. I would love to play Rodrigo's Monsters game, but Friday is right out for us.
Celebrating Rob's birthday is more important to me than playing another game. Giving people the option of one game and Card/board/Party/Rockband games is more than cool by me.

The other thing about Saturday night is Rock Band doesn't have to start right away. We can certainly get in a game of Things in a Box or Apples to Apples.
It's going to be fun any way you slice it.

I'm not a Rock Band'er myself, but I am a socializer. I like the idea of a game going on Saturday night, one that I know will likely end well before Rob's party does. So, for me, I'd get the best of both worlds: a game with either Cass or Jody AND a party with the cool folks.
With that said, I'm happy to just hang out and enjoy the vibe, whatever the vibe may be.

My feelings as well. Let's party with the b-day boy.

There is no way that game ends that early Tom. The other set of games finishes around 7pm and we eat around 8pm. So the earliest the game will start is 8pm and probably go until midnight. And some of you don't make it past midnight for staying up.
And Matt, I TOTALLY plan on some Things in a Box / Apples to Apples
I can move or remove my game if that'd help. I only put it on Sat night cause I thought it'd be easier for folks and you had tenatively mentioned it as a possibility.
So if it's still a good fit, then I can still run it then. If Jody's or a different game would be a better fit, I can move it or remove it. If everyone will be available the night before the next DC gameday, I can even try moving it to then. Friday night I could also do, or even Sunday since some people can't make it no matter when.
Anyway, just let me know what needs to happen and I can do it.

Thanks Cass! Right now I would just like everyone to discuss, this way we know where we all stand. I'm totally cool with at least one game running here... I am worried about space issues with two though.

Rock on! Kobalds suffered from this problem too. A little less people is better.
I'm okay with whatever people decide. I'm currently signed up for Cass's game but I'm cool with card games and a bit of Rock Band (as long as I don't have to sing for all of your sake!).

I actually had no plans to sign up for any game that plays late-evening into night. I may be a night-owl, but my capacity for thought does drop after about 8 pm. (And I also know that I really function best on 1 game a day)
So you can count me in the card playin', Rock Bandin' crowd.
I would say since Rodrigo doesn't mind we move his game to Friday night and leave Cass's where it is as he was signed up first. Then anyone who wants a real game Saturday night can play that and everyone else will hang out with the other stuff.
I hope this is okay with everyone. We just want you guys to be happy and if in the end that meant running two games Saturday night we would do it.
