It's time to start the real planning of the LIG that will take place in North Babylon, NY from February 27th - March 1st. We can use this forum to get things quickly and clearly in place.
Here is what will happen:
On Saturday we'll have two slots - 10am - 2pm and 3pm - 7 or 8pm. Saturday night can be a longer slot if needed. We can fit up to three games a slot, although two would be perfect leaving the living room for card games / Rock Band / movies / socializing.
Sunday we think one slot would be best so those who have to leave to travel home can still get a game in. If people do want to stay late, we're totally open to another game slot. Otherwise we'll say 10 or 11am - 2 or 3 pm again.
(Breakfast we can do bagels & donuts. Lunch will be get your own - we are literally 2 minutes down the road from every fast food place in our area. We'll probably make one big order somewhere (pizza or Chinese) if you'd rather stay in. We'll be cooking up something for dinner here and after that it'll be party games / Rock Band / board gaming marathon. It's pretty open right now. Yes, it's pretty late for dinner but we'll be snacking all day so I think we'll be okay.) Okay this is usually what we do but we're still pondering what we want to do about meals this time around. We're considering a turkey dinner Saturday night instead of grilling, it's relatively inexpensive and we can do most of it ahead of time. Anyway, food is still TBD.
If you want to run a game, feel free to start a thread with day and time you want to run your game with a description and what the requirements are. If you could also include what your table needs are I can assign a spot to you.
Any general questions can go here or feel free to start a new thread. We're open to suggestions and want the weekend to run smoothly. Please let us know if you plan on attending and check back regularly to look for new games to sign up for!
Everything sounds great! The one thing that I do ask is if it's a turkey dinner let us know beforehand! Turkey = evil in my book, I'll just pick up something extra @ lunch and re-heat!

We always post the menu beforehand. But we'd never expect you to contribute towards something you don't want to eat and there is tons of food available right around the block. You're always free to eat what you'd like.

Yes, people from our local gaming group will be here I'm sure. Also there are some more people - CMers- mulling over coming. We have a Facebook page for the event also so there are some maybe's there. Molonel has told me that he's coming too.

I could use a dose or two of "awesome". Of course being in the presence of DW and Queenie is a dose and a half, so I'll be 3/4 full of it as soon as I arrive.

Bretbo and Dovaj: I am musing the idea of flying in the night before, as opposed to driving. Not that I don't mind road-tripping with y'all, but it may be easier for me to do the flying thing, since I will likely have to work remotely on that Friday (which has typically been our travel day).
Plus, that would give me some "alone time" with the McCarthys, IYKWIMAIKTYD!
In any event, that decision will be made shortly, and I'll let y'all know.

I'll drive up. I don't fly if a drive is less than 12 hrs. I'd much rather be in a car for 12 hrs than in a plane for 2, with another 2+ hrs on each side getting to/from an airport, and all the associated crap that goes along with it.
I will email Bretbo and see if he wants to ride along or what. I am guessing that Cass and Frai would not much enjoy riding in the uncovered bed of the truck in 20 degree weather?
So I don't mess up your "alone time" with Queenie, what's the earliest I should show up on FRI? Or is DW going to take you to work with him?

You can show up whenever you want Dov. I believe Tom may try to come in Thursday night. If he comes Friday, I will be gone for approximately 2-3 hours picking him from the airport but I will let you know what time that would be when he knows. I do think that isn't a problem though, I think he's coming Thursday night.

Great!! We still need a game for each slot on Saturday, two for Sunday and possibly one for Friday night if we want to do that again!
You can take the LIRR to either Babylon or Deer Park (Ronkonkoma Line). They are different lines, so check into that when looking at the schedules.
Thanks. My plan right now is to possibly meet up with the bf when he gets in on Sat night (won't be till like midnight) so I'm trying to see if that's doable..otherwise need to leave super early Sunday. Ah, the joys of dating someone who is out of state.
