So I had an idea for a game and wanted to see if there was interest in it.
I was thinking of running a game of Diplomacy, but having it run all weekend. We would start Friday night and run it until Sunday late morning. I am thinking of doing 2-3 hour turns. I think we can get a good 10 turns in (5 years). Running it this way in the background of other games should allow time for negotiations to occur and planning of moves. I would collect the turns, adjucate the moves and give out the results. DW has said we can leave a board up all weekend and I can have lots of paper maps.
So any takers? Novices welcome I can put up a pdf of the rules, very simple game, no dice even.
1. madwabbit
2. Dovaj
3. Seonaid
4. Dire Wolf
5.
6.
7.
I can take up to seven, but would run with as few as 5.

I'm tempted but the plate is already full. Plus, I don't want to interrupt or split my attention between any of the ongoing games with strategizing, conversation and such.

Aw, c'mon. You can manage it. Besides, we can just stick you in Turkey, and the Russian and Austro-Hungarian players can decimate you quickly and thus resolve your dilemma!

I think the point was you would do your turn say before your other game starts, and then again after or something like that. Maybe a turn in the morning or evening. It shouldn't interrupt the other games.

I got it, I'm just not that kind of game player. Very hard for me to put it down when things are still going on that can influence the outcome.
But more importantly, my plate is already chock full of games.

So . . . I've never played and I've mostly been told horror stories about it . . . but if you need a fifth, I'd be willing to give it a shot . . . Eek.

It's a fun game once you get into it. Only catch is that it's looooooong and requires everyone to be into it. They don't have to be good, just into it.

1) I can stong arm an extra person or two into playing. (I can be very persuasive, hrmmm maybe I need to bring the dissecting kits home).
2) We can play the 'standard' Dip option which is one player take England and the other three play pairs of France/Austria, Germany/Turkey and Russia/Italy.
3. I can control the other three countries. They would move independantly of each other, and would only support thier own pieces. They would not be open to negotiations with players or other 'neutrals'. This I think is better than havign them all just hold, although we could do that.
4. I could play as the fifth, but I would have to get my orders in before others gabve them to me.
5. We don't worry about the game.
I doubt anyone will see this before they get there, but think about it for this evening.
Whoops! You should have said something! People were assuming it was cancelled . . .
Well, when one of my players miss a boat and is late..............................
It is Ok, I really didn't have enough players to make it work well. And I was needed to help get food ready as well so I think you guys would rather have food than a game
But if you ditch your class and come to DC Gameday I promise to run a session of it. Come on you know you want to.
