M2: The Search for Goblin HQ

As the party begins its aproach to the moathouse, Tor pulls forth a javelin. He's still holding his chain in his left hand (as opposed to wielding it.)

ooc: I intended to do this prior to leaving the area where we were discussing our next move, hopefully that is OK.

On his initiative, Tor will throw a javelin and then move 10' back (to the other side of Tenebrynn) so as to have enough room for a running jump.

Tenebrynn readies himself prior to the advance, casting a mage armor. Then with staff in hand he joins the rush across the river, leaping across with the others. On the other side he quickly tucks his staff back in it's strap on his back and begins the climb.

Nurlan will begin singing the same march that inspired courage yesterday against the ghouls, intending to have the same effect.

At the moathouse, Ashnar will attempt a running jump (Jump -1).

Once over, he'll cast mage armor (1 hour duration; AC 14; I'm assuming it would take a good chunk of the duration if he cast it before setting out for the moathouse, and it would be rather strange to cast it midways).

Not feeling very confident in jumping over the moat, Irene waits to see what the others do.

Charlarn of Phyrah: Male human cleric 2

Charlarn will cast his bless spell so that it catches as many of us as possible (standard action). Then he'll move 20 ft. toward the southeast corner of the moathouse (move action).

Round 1

Somac accelerates when he hears the whistle. He runs South then cuts sharply West, leaping just before the moat begins, and sailing gracefully over the water. He lands firmly on the other side. (Jump DR 19, Balance DR 15)

Irene pauses as the others rush ahead.

Noting the Barbarain's success, Ashnar follows, leaping at the last moment. Unfortunately, the ground near the moat is boggy. The wizard's foot sticks, and he belly-flops into the brackish water. (Jump DR=3) It is about 5 feet deep where his head ends up.

Tenebryn follows Ashnar, and fortunately isn't following directly behind him. The powerfully muscled elf clears the moat and lands catlike on the other side. (Jump DR 6, balance DR 14)

Nurlan also hangs back, and begins singing his famliar inspiring tune. His voice carries clearly through the cool eveing air.

From above, the figure on the parapet aims an arrow at Somac, which splashes harmlessly in the water.

Charlyn casts his spell, and, combined with the Bard's song, everyone feels quite confident of victory. (everyone affected)

Tor hurls his javelin before moving into jumping position. His shot is a tough one, and the javelin bounces off the hard stone wall lining the top.

Rinaldo reluctantly follows the attack, leaping neatly over the moat, joinging Somac and Tenebryn on the rocky slope on the other side. (Jump DR 9, Balance DR 8) These three look up at a jumbled slide of crumbled masonry, leading into a dark room, about 30 feet ahead. Some sunlight spills into this room from its cracked and broken ceiling. The ceiling is visible from their perspective, but not the contents of the room.

Hoping the best of it, Irene follows the lead of the party, trying to jump over the moat as well. With a simple "Here goes nothing" she starts running towards the moat.

Having moved into position last round (ooc: I don't think this is reflected on the map) Tor will shift his grip on the chain to be wielding it once more, and then take his jump.

Jump +10 total (Normally +6, Base Speed 40' gives +4 more on running jumps)

Balance (untrained) +2

If possible, Tor will use the remaining ~40' of movement this round to move inside, and hopefully within range to threaten one or more of the enemy.
