This is a really great fantasy adventure story by our own takyris. Lines like "The frigid glacial lake whispered softly with waves formed by the icy wind" give Release the Knot a lyrical quality, but it is primarily a sword-fighting tale (in fact, a talking-moving-magic-sword-fighting tale), with two monstrous bad guys dispatched before the end of the first page. The tale is easy to read, the prose mechanically excellent, and the end cleverly sets up a future tale while adding depth to the characters.
