Vampire Half-Celestial Half-Infernal Half-Dragon Wererattigerbearboar Merfolk

The title has nothing to do with this thread's topic.

I recently discovered that playing in different groups really helps my DMing skills. Seeing how different players can approach adventures and how different GMs handle their games help me expand my repetoire. But most important is actually being a player instead of a GM. For too long I only GMed, not played, and so I kinda lost touch with how frikkin' nuts PCs can be when they think they can achieve something.

I encourage GMs to take some time to be players occasionally. It'll help you get a sense of how to entertain your group, and have plots that attract their interest.

I have to agree, Ryan. I got a whole and very different perspective when I first played a 3.X game from just DMing them. If nothing else you realise just how much you need to manage your players' expectations; mismatched expectations - throughout the game - are a sure source of rancor and confusion.
