Our new game just reached 2nd level,

we have:

Bard/Cleric - ranged attacks and support
Psion
Wizard
Druid - with Animal Companion (our combatant(s))
Rogue/Monk - Supplemental Combatant

My character, the halfling bard/cleric just went to -7 hit points after triggering a nasty trap, and making a poor luck roll... *sigh*

We're currently playing RttToEE with the following party...

gnome specialist wizard - illusionist (7th level)
human specialist wizard - transmuter (9th level)
elven sorceress (7th level)
elven rogue (9th level)
human fighter (8th level)

our cleric <human cleric of Kord (8th level) > is currently being held hostage by the Air Temple and has been temporarily replaced by a <half elf bard/rogue (8th level) >.

We are a bit magic heavy, but it hasn't been a problem. I think it's allowed the magic users to truely "specialize". Needless to say, we tend to travel about with the entire party invisible and often times Endurance-pumped.

in the game i am dming right now the party is a little unbalanced. they seem to lack a lot in the melee combat department of all things.

human barbarian1/fighter4/longblade1 (from wotc contest)
sun elf wizard6
human rogue6
human rogue3/fighter2
halfling rogue1/cleric4

sure you would think that with that many rogues in the party there would be some good support for the bar/fig/longblade, but they offer little in the way of melee punch. even with all of the flanking they try to do.

an average battle consists of the rogue6 missing a whole lot, the burly bar/fig/longblade beating the snot out of everything around him, the halfling offering healing, buffing spells, and a few thrown daggers, loads of evocation spells lobbed about by the elf, and the rog/fig spending the fight unconscious. low ac, low bab, a pair of longswords, do not make for a good time.
