    Mightier than the Sword Rogues Gallery

    Alright, players. Feel free to post as much here as you would like others to know about your character. All I ask is that we continue to respect Sblocks and spoilers used. I will be posting NPCs in this thread as well as you run across them, and I hope to use this thread much like the sig thread so that this first post becomes a list of NPCs and important people you meet in the world. I realize that many of the NPCs will be listed on this first page ... but this list will help you find the right NPC without having to search for it. That will make it easier to reference people so you don't need to worry about retaining everything in your mind! Hopefully, if I do it right, the NPCs will be sorted alphabetically by the name you know them as in-game.

    Appearance: Galean is man of average build, though not of looks. His skin is several shades darker then the average human, a grey-ashen color is tinted to him. His iris are the the color of his human parents, however, his pupils are of a crimson nature showing his drow heritage. Always a clean-shaven man, his head shaven as clean as his face. Besides his tone of skin, he is generally unremarkable in a crowd. He normally wears stout boots, leather gloves, and a large brimmed hat. He favors comfortable, but durable clothes in neutral tones. He typically wears a studded leather overcoat as his sole source of armor,a long sleeved shirt and slightly baggy pants.

    Personality: Galen is a friendly soft-spoken man, though slightly reserved. While not a cleric in the least bit, he is somewhat a religious man and devoted follower of XXX. He is slow to anger, but once his ire is roused his rage is fierce. He enjoys meeting new people, those he feels can deal with he heritage better then most, and seeing new places. He likes to try exotic food and drink when he travels. He tends to be a peacemaker among his friends and tries to get along with everyone. If he does find someone he can’t be a friend with he generally moves on to somewhere new. He has acquaintances all over the land, but he rarely stays in one place long enough to make really close friends however.

    Derik Stout

    Derik stands a tall 6'4" and has very common brown hair. In just the right light, his hair demonstrates its bronze highlights. Both of his eyes are green, and they are beginning to take on an almost mettalic hue within the iris.


    Derik Stout was born in the rolling hills surrounding the mining town of Dullstown. He had a lengthy childhood, but knowing he was part Drakontai made this time endurable. It was difficult maturing slower than his friends, quite often he would find himself making friends with one group of people only to see them move on so quickly and leave him behind. His mother told him that this was an important understanding in the life of a Drakontos. “The gift of long life is often a curse, Derik.” To this day he can still hear her voice saying that to him, though he has now chosen a path that takes him away from Dullstown where she still lives.

    Years before he left her, however, his luck with friends changed. He fell upon the friendship of a young elf named Hithertill. {Of course, Hithertill was a much shortened name from what his parents called him, but Derik didn’t have the ability to pronounce the Elven tongue anyway. So, Derik called his new friend Hithertill; it was the closest approximation that his lips could make.} As the years passed by, Derik’s parents eventually became friends with Hithertill’s parents - through the friendship of the maturing adolescent boys.

    This friendship lasted for nearly two decades before it was decided that these young men were coming of age. As the boys’ families grew closer together, Hithertill’s parents learned of the plight of one particular Drakontos Heritage group. “The Blues,” Derik’s father told Derik often, “come from an evil lineage. But there is no reason for them to be enslaved as they are. They are living beings just as we are and they deserve the choice to make their lives to be whatever they want. Indeed, many of them have been too entrenched in their society for too long and are brainwashed in the evil ways of their Heritage. But the young ones – ones like yourself, Derik – can still be saved.”

    As Hithertill’s father and Derik’s father also talked about the Blues, one day they thought that they would enlist their services in a ‘freedom raid.’ Derik’s father knew of a few Drakontai who routinely snuck into the Blue territory and captured as many of the Blue children as possible. Freed from the clutches of their Heritage, these Blues were deprogrammed and allowed to choose a new lifestyle. Derik’s father knew it was wrong to kidnap, but he also knew that many of the Blues ended up as slaves – or worse yet – the occasional dinner. As an event to demonstrate their coming of age, Derik’s father signed Derik up and Hithertill’s father joined the raiding party with Hithertill in tow.

    As the raiding party entered the small, sandy, and remotely hidden valley in which the Blue Dragon lived and kept watch over his Drakontai tribe, things turned very bad quickly. The Blue had discovered the means in which the raiding parties were entering the valley and stealing his slaves. On this night, the dragon had laid a trap for them. Electricity filled the cool nighttime air as the dragon burst upward from the sand below the feet of the raiding party. Derik panicked and began to flee from the dragon’s presence as did most of the Drakontai raiding party. Before long it was all over. The dragon made short work of Hithertill, his father, and Derik’s father. Of the 30 men and women who had joined the raid, only Derek and three others were able to hide from the power of the Blue Dragon. Derik looked on in horror as the Blue gorged itself on the raiders’ horses – and even on the dead body of Derik’s father. Frozen in fear, he secretly longed to strike out in revenge and anger against the Blue Dragon and bring his father’s body home. But the fear of the beast kept him hidden safe, watching the horrible scene unfold before him. For two days Derik sat, frozen in fear. Long after the dragon left Derik found himself unable to move from the safety of his hiding spot. Finally, hunger brought him to his senses and he made the long journey home.

    His mother never recovered from the loss of her husband, and Derik could no longer stand to be in the home as everything reminded him of his father. He struck out on his own, determined to become skilful enough to do what his father could not. One day he would return as a skilled warrior and with the help of any who would join him he would slay that beast, but not now. He had seen what the dragon could do; and he knew he did not have the skills to defeat it now - not for a long time. For now, he would learn to fight. His sword by his side, he ventured forth into the world. Early in his journey he found a new respect for Heironeous - and knew that with this new guidance of Heironeous and the respect that his mother taught him for Bahamut he would survive. He vowed that he would learn from the gods how to protect those around him.

    Only a few months into his journey, he stumbled upon an inn. ‘The Trap Door,’ Derik thought to himself. ‘Sounds like an interesting place to stay the night. If nothing else, perhaps I can get some ale and a decent night’s lodging.’ The first night in the inn, he was the victim of an unfortunate robbery …

    Appearance: Kitrina is strikingly beautiful with a tall, shapely figure, and striking features. Her golden blonde hair is long, but often styled in some manor. Her Blue eyes seem to have a hint of gold in them as well, and her deep golden tan speaks of years under the sun despite spending most of her time indoors. Her clothing is always of the highest quality, tailored specifically for her, and in the height of current fashion.

    Katrina is dressed in a royal blue dress that sets off her eyes as the deep blue pools sparkle with flecks of gold. Her golden blond hair is tied up in an elegent fashion, leaving only the jacket to cover her shoulders. The jacket is tightened around her waste and parts just below the dress line, where her clevage is amplified by the dresses cut. The somewhat shorter dress ends just above her knees, accent her long golden tanned legs.

    Personality: Kitrina, while not quite spoiled, is very used to having money and getting other people to do things for her. She is usually well mannered and exacting in her choice of words, and is every bit the court lady she appears to be. However, under her courtly exterior is a fiery woman who values what freedoms and luxuries she has. She is generally loyal to her family, and fiercely loyal to any whom she might grow close enough too to call friend. She is quite proud of her family name and her draconic heritage, though she does not prop herself up on either.

    Background: Kitrina is the first born daughter of the wealthy merchant prince Rondel ir'Danyl. For nearly 20 years, she was the apple of her father’s eye, till her younger brother Gladus was born. Her father still adored his daughter, and was very protective of her as well as his newborn son. Kitrina was sheltered from the outside world from her young age, rarely getting the chance to speak to anyone who was not either a servant of her father’s or a visitor of high standing. She kept a watchful eye on her little brother when she could, but servants attended to most of his needs that weren’t attended to by her mother, Vanessa. Between her younger brother and courtly matters, Vanessa had little time for Kitrina, but Kitrina tried not to be resentful. When Vanessa died (mysteriously) a few years after Gladus’s birth, Kitrina was saddened, but Rondel deeply hurt, and it only strengthened his resolve to protect Kitrina.

    Katrina spent much of her time studying negotiations and other courtly matters, as well as experimenting with her draconic heritage. Her father kept her somewhat isolated fearing her coruption and safety, so she enjoyed contact with others, even if it was to talk of the ways of the court, or the latest fashions, or even who the best looking young princes were. Her brother was often at Rondel’s side, and was put much more into the public eye, while Katrina was usually only around her father as a symbol. She knew Gladus needed to learn her father’s business, and she was thankful in fact that she had at least that much freedom, knowing the confines her father experienced while managing his large network of trade routs and merchants. She had what she needed, the finest clothes, exquisite food, servants to take care of her needs, and access to the resources to acquire more if she desired.

    Kitrina was content with her noble life, and had finished most of her scholarly studies a year or two ago. She was being allowed to attend a few more social functions, and tried to honor her father by being on her best. Rondel, in a power play move to increase the status of his family and name, offered Kitrina to Colvert's firstborn son and heir apparent, Petros, and the two were betrothed. Kitrina found out from her father shoftly after meeting Petros for the first time.

    Over the next month, she got to spend some time with Petros. While he was a nice young man, she did not have any special feelings towards him, and did not want to be a part of this, resenting being used as a pawn in her father's political and marketing schemes. However, she did not see any easy way out of this, and played along out of respect for her father. Looking for a silver lining, she noted that she was able to get out more with Petros, and he was definitely a ‘good catch’ by any standards. She got the impression that while Petros was a perfect gentleman with her, he was not too keen on the idea either. But, such is court life, and it is a life she was sure she could get used to if need be.

    Kitrina was unsure as to what was happening when she found herself in her nightshift with several others being held at knifepoint. She had been traveling back and forth for days, and had been so tired she was unsure where she was anyway. She feared they might try to violate her, but they seemed uninterested in that, much to her relief. Hoping it was just a dream, she awoke later to find herself laying with several others who were in various states of dress or undress.

    Appearance: Long blue-black hair tied into a single knot tied with brown cord to keep it from his face, Warrick had the look of a person accustomed to being outdoors. Tanned somewhat weathered skin, sharp ice-blue eyes, and the occasional scar, calloused hands, and worn comfortable traveling clothing completed the picture of Warrick.

    Personality: Blunt and to the point, Warrick strives to be forward with people so they do not misunderstand him. As illustrated by his profession, Warrick does not shirk from being alone, though he has found that his has been in the company of others more and more frequently. Friendship is hard in coming to those Warrick deals with, but that may be more from his definition of friendship than anything else. Warrick considers his friends family as he really doesn’t have any family to speak of anymore. The positive side from Warrick’s point of view is that he gets to chose his ‘family’ now.

    Background: Born to poor settlers in the border territories (with regard to the rougher areas of the realm), Warrick’s life was difficult from the start. A difficult birth caused him to be raised by only his father and elder brother with no female influence in his upbringing at all. His only ‘friend’ during his early years was a hunter by the name of Galraith. Galraith taught Warrick the beginnings of his trade. In fact, it was on the return from one of these training sessions that Warrick found his home under attack from bandits and cutthroats. He fought as he could but awakened later to an empty home and the need to bury his last two known blood relatives.

    With blood in his eyes, Warrick pursued the bandits to their very lair planning on killing as many of them as he could before he died. Timely intervention of his first known encounter with a woman stopped his blood-lust. The woman by the name of Aleyssia persuaded him to not throw away his life but to learn and think through another solution. She spent some time with Warrick, instructing him to use his mind as well as his skill with a bow. It was from her that Warrick received a fine Mithral shirt which he has cherished ever since. Warrick dealt with most of the bandits, enlisting the help of the local constable and his associates to round up who they could and bring them to justice. Of Galraith and Aleyssia, Warrick knew nothing more – both had moved on to other interests or pursuits leaving Warrick to explore the world on his own.

    Troth vec-Neag knew from an early age he had been called. He wasn't sure what it was, but he had that knack for calming people down, listening to their concerns and sticking up for them when it needed to be done. As soon as he reach majority he went down to the temple of Pelor in Great Bend and joined the priesthood. Troth didn't have the same martial bent and fervor as many of his friends did. He liked helping people more than bashing infidels. So he elected not to become a knight of Pelor, but a simple priest. He took to his vows well and studied hard. He enjoyed going out and helping people, the sick and weak he helped get better, the poor he lifted their spirits and gave them what he could, and the lost he tried to guide. So Troth progressed, but felt more could be done. The priests of the Great Bend temple prayed with him for guidance on what Troth's career should be. A great and winding road was shown to them. The head priest said that this was a sign for Troth to be a wandering priest and seek out those who needed him. So Troth packed his few belongings and headed to Theropa to be blessed by the high priest there before he set out on his wandering life. While waiting for his audience with the high priest he was staying at a local inn. During the night, he was awoken by a robbery. He thought was first one of panic, he thought "How will I serve Pelor should these men slay me" But as the men left, simple thieves looking for material goods, he thought about the strange mark on their sleeve and that these men, who attack he and his fellow travelers so brazenly were a plague upon the common man and resolved to bring them to justice.

    Raithen, Carlyn, and Gwenny

    Raithen, Carlyn, and Gwenny are the residents of The Trap Door, an inn within the city limits of the city of Theropa. Carlyn and Raithen are married now and while Carlyn is Gwenny's natural mother Raithen is only a step father.

    Carlyn prides herself at being a good cook. She runs the morning shift at The Trap Door, cooking breakfast for all those who stay within their humble inn. Life has seemed to be difficult, for she looks of a bit old for having a 20 something daughter. Her looks aside, she is typically a very pleasant person to talk to and loves to kill off an afternoon gossiping and the like.

    Gwenny tends to be a bit of a superstitious type who lives with ahealthy respect and knowledge of religion. She wears her emotions out on her sleeve and doesn't hide much of what she is thinking. She's been known to curse a few gods in her time ... although her curses are not legitimate curse - more like frustrated exclamations. Gwenny is the primary cleaner in the inn. Her duty is to make sure the rooms have been swept, cleaned, and the linens have been changed over. She is a beautiful 20 and a few years old. She takes pride on her green eyes.

    Raithen is a bit of a rough man, but he's got his rationale. Raithen is also a businessman at heart. He runs the inn, collects the firewood, works as a handyman, and also can be occasionally persuaded into being a tourguide for visitors to his fair city of Theropa. If his gruff exterior can be tolerated, he really enjoys to talk and exchange a few war stories as well. At first he seems rough on Carlyn and Gwenny, but once he is observed for a while it is clear that while his actions may be rough they are based in love for his wife and his step-daughter. Raithen is a large man, over 200 pounds and just over 6'1". Most of the mass is muscle, however, and not fat. This muscle hides his age as much as Gwenny's body advertises her age.

    Sub-commander Xax

    Sub-commander Xax is the weapons and intelligence officer at the Eiss Nukti hideout/armory in Theropa. The sub-commander stands 6'2" tall and has a very muscular body. He is hardly even seen without his leather armor, which covers him neck to toe. Of course, this is his sparring outfit and he trains with his troops for many hours during the day. The subcommander is a bit of a no non-sense kind of guy, although he tries to be courteous about his discussions whenever possible.

    Gerogas is a very interesting man. For his upside, he runs the Golden Egg - one of the more premier restaurant/taverns ins the town. On almost any given night he can be found sitting at his private table in the balcony that looks over the dining area below. If a person is ever fortunate to have the opportunity to be invited up to the balcony, they will find Gerogas ornately dressed. He presents himself as a very wealthy man. Always within The Golden Egg Gerogas is unarmed. Instead of weapons, Gerogas chooses to wear as much jewelry as possible. He has a plethora of rings adorning all of his fingers (including one each on his thumbs). Gerogas also wears a very ornate amulet to all his social functions. His brown hair is cut relatively short and he wears his facial hair in a short cut beard and moustache. Generally speaking, he looks unusually thin and trim for a person of his wealth.

    On the downside, Gerogas will often quite freely admit his connections to the Black Market and the Thieves Guild. He is not opposed to using whatever means necessary to get the job done. To this end, he is neither good nor evil. He views almost every aspect of life as part of the business - every decision that is made can potentially affect his flow of money. If there is one path that will increase the flow of money in his direction, he is likely to take it so long as it does not hamper his public image. He is loyal to himself first and his well paid and equally loyal compilation of mercenary bodyguards. These guards are strictly loyal to Gerogas, although a person with the right amount of money could perhaps buy them away from Gerogas. They are mercenaries, after all.

    Shire is almost always found at Gerogas' side. Being chief of Gerogas' mercenary corp implies that she has a haelthy love for Gerogas' quite obvious wealth. Being a mercenary, and Gerogas' personal bodyguard, she is also almost always seen fully armed and armored. She typically choses to look very plain in dress and armor style, although it also often appears that her armor and cloak has usually been chosen to disguise her figure as much as possible. If it weren't for her long braided hair and her high sculpted cheekbones, it might be difficult to tell she was a woman at all underneath her armor.
