After the Start, Before the End

After I begin I can see the light,
I can see it so bright.
After I let you in I can see the stars,
How far away they are.

After you've gone you take the words,
You make them hurt.
After I have stopped thinking again,
You make it all the same.

But before the end comes the moment,
Before the silence runs out.
Before the days turn to clichés
And the fears to doubt.
Before the end comes the darkness,
Before the light finally fades.
Before you are gone I feel you
And I will feel you to the end of days.

After the embraces have finally fled,
I feel like I am dead.
After the days turn morning to eve,
I wander without belief.

After the start has tricked me to trip,
I cling on as I slip.
After you touch me and find my lost soul,
You heal me and make me whole.

But before the end comes I hear you call,
Before the dreams snatch you far away,
Before your voice has no substance.
Before I run fingers through the light of day.
But before I am lost to the world all over,
Before I can say those words that I hold dear.
Before you hold me, then leave me so cruelly,
I'll be waiting ever after, still here.

After the start, but before the end,
After the ending has started to wearily sleep.
Before the starting has begun for the cease;
Your end becomes my start, entwined deep.

Dying Hard

Shed light on those crumpled notes.
A shaking hand wrote evenly:

"Peace dies hard and painfully."

How many times would the wind poke it;
Turn over the stunted wax bases
To tend the wicks and flames?

Will the flowers, once dead, rememeber
Your name?

Tears make a terrible poultice.
Salt invades those wounds
Burning down to the very bones of you.
The pain and the sting
Reminds you that this is real.
This is all too real.

Stars overhead cast little light
Onto the ribbon curled and tucked.
Neatly it rests around the heart of the square.

Around the broken heart of a nation.

Dying heart of a people; a person; a thought and a feeling.

Dark like the night it softly flutters
To capture attention.

The hand of the author seems less shaky now.
A world has blurred with tears
Half recalled psalms and mostly forgotten memories.

Light on the square and those around
As peace marks it's grave in the candle glow.

~ Unforgettable.

A secret told.
A treasure hold.
A lie of gold,
Is spun too soon.

You take your faith,
All you crave.
A mind depraved
Of mortal means.

Loft a candle high,
Up towards a sky
Bloodied red and dry
As cold winds scream.

A God's dead word,
That fine line blurred.
Religion or the Sword.
Is a secret held.

Walking past in her serene state, she places a single note onto one thorn.. and then another underneath it. The first reads:

Live my dear ones, my loved ones,
In a world that can never know shame.
A candles flicker and flame
That gutters and fights for life, is a hard life.

I'll make your songs ring
Throughout the heavens and all across
That patterned starry sky.

When you have gone
And when I am left to wither in sadness
Until the end of time.

Live strong and live true to yourselves, my loved ones
For sorrow can only know how regrets run.
Do not keep them, be wild and abandon
And live for the sake of being free.

Simple joys are those easily found
In the face of a flow, across a breeze
Or simpler yet, found from the start.

A single smile makes summer dawn
So thoughts of winter cascade away.
Into my warmth filled heart.

Live for the sake of living and loving, my dear ones.
I love you all and cannot think of anything
That would make me happier. There is nothing.
So live, and love with every passing day,
My loved ones.

The second, shorter and more to the point:

R is for Revealing
I is for Imagination.
Y is for You
just like O is for Obtuseness.
N stands for Nothing;

Nothing less Than a name.

Just like this stands for nothing,
Nothing more than a thank you.

Weep Pity

A state of mind far removed from being
A thought spread wings over dusky plains.
Bear witness and wonder to the silent night
Descended upon your ageless slumber.
Dream of those times when happiness was yours
Without payment or asking price to be given.
Right be yours in this day and age
Sought from under a canopy of truthless stars.
The scarred face of illusion is perceived
To mask off all that you thought you knew.
Deceive yourself into dreaming a lie
To know less each day than that before.
Ignorance be thy bedmate and soul keeper
Just as passing on from Common Sense the same.
Your life is your life til you throw it far away
Like you have done, weep pity for your being.
