Letter to the Editor

Dear sir,
In regards to the accusations by columnist Kaity Aytes, I have some corrections to offer.
The Interplanetary Treaty of 2019 was signed in Geneva, Switzerland and was reported upon by many major and minor news media of the time. However many did not accept the reports for the serious histoical event that it was and allowed their own media to be ridiculed before, during and after the event. Those reports have since been branded fraudulant despite the clear attendance by world leaders.
And just because WIZO do not give out lists of people associated with us, immigrant or not, does not mean we are hiding. They have as much a right to privacy as anyone else.

P.T. (Jade) Walker
The Meeting Place
and WIZO officer

OOC: In case you don't want to be identified...

(( OOC Post:

Not everyone wants their screen name to be on their news article, so I've a solution to offer.

NYC Reports is a name specifically created to act as a reporter. I'm not going to give out its password in case its abused but if you have a story you want to have posted, email it over to me and I'll put it up using the name. Some other ISRP WizOs may also post using the name but if you ask someone and they refuse please respect that and not get offended. Not everyone will want to use this.

Stories with obectionable content may be sent back and it'd be good if the player of a character or group that your story slams/slanders (if there is one/some) gives ooc permission as well. Overall, the name is not responsible for the content.

Please include the date for the article and other details if applicable: eg, reporter's name, media/newspaper name, page or section of the paper.

Depending on when I check mail, please accept that the post usually will not be made immediately.

Shooting at local bar

New York City, New York, USA (AP)
Saturday April 2 2030

Local Police were called to local club ‘The Meeting Place’ for the third time in the new watering hole’s opening week. At approximately 1:00 AM local time, a wheelchair bound and sickly looking man entered the club. Witnesses identify the man as Matthew Tyff, a local political candidatewith a pro-mutant agenda. Tyff was nearly killed in an assassination attempt earlier in the week and who killed his attacker later that day in what was ruled as self-defense, also at TMP. Tyff was seen meeting and talking with local businessman Michael Corin-Sorria for alleged purpose of providing medical care and housing for an unspecified amount of time out of fear of an upstate anti-mutant group.
Bartenders then requested that Mr. Corin-Sorria remove Mr. Tyff to a proper medical facility when it is believed Mr. Tyff expired. As 911 was called, Mr. Tyff is believed to have resumed breathing, regained a pulse, and attempted to walk out of the bar. As Mr. Corin-Sorria attempted to restrain Mr. Tyff to await medical assistance, confusion ensued as Mr. Tyff, bartender P.T. "Jade" Walker, and several TMP patrons drew weapons; Mr. Tyff a handgun and later a knife, Miss Walker a tranquilizer gun, the weapons of bystanders unidentified. Shots were fired during the ensuing struggle with Miss Walker, Mr. Tyff and possibly two bystanders being injured. Mr. Tyff mysteriously fled the scene as officials arrived. Miss Walker was transported to the Metropolitan Hospital.

Mr. Tyff remains at large. Police would like to speak to anyone who may know of his wearabouts but advise that this man is to be considered armed and dangerous until proven otherwise.

Mr. Corin-Sorria and Miss Walker were unavailable for comment at the time this article went to the printers.

A scandal began today as the Inquirer caught on film, pictures of questionable nature. The elusive and single Maxwell Anderson, Max Fashions, is here caught in pictures with the young heiress, Venus de'Medici.

Cameras caught the couple holding hands on an evening stroll, however that is more than enough to raise brows and wag tongues in the right circles.

Maxwell Anderson is fifty-two years of age, and head of his own company. The young heiress turned eighteen this year, and is a first year student at NYU.

Perhaps this, will be enough to put a tarnish even on the de'Medicis reputation, but somehow this reporter doubts it.

80 Dead in Subway Disaster
Greatest disaster in the history of NYC Metro Subway

80 people are confirmed dead and more than 30 injured after an explosion that rocked subwaygoers late yesterday evening. The explosion also disrupted the loal power grid, throwing more than 20 blocks into darkness for over half an hour. Emergency services were called to the West Village of downtown Mahattan to rescue survivors, evacuate other waiting commuters and clear the surronding area above. Police struggled to take maintain control of the area as panic stricken residents took to the street. Traffic along lower 7th Ave was halted for several hours in the resulting chaos.
The 3# subway train was caught in the blast which engineers state was caused by a freak electrical fault on the Express uptown line, causing it to derail and killing all 67 passengers and 4 staff onboard. The blast also hit the 9# Local downtown which was passing by, killing 6 and injuring 9. However the electrical shock which passed through the last car was insulated from continuing along the train. A further 3 commuters were killed at the nearby Sheriden Square station by CO and other gases caused by the electrical blast. 25 more from the station and downtown train are being treated for gas inhalation and minor burns, including 7 subway staff and 2 police officers.
Police have been working with the NYC Public Transport Authority to discover the exact cause of the blast, however efforts have been hampered by the damage caused to surveilance and recording equiptment around the site.

More news as it arrives.

Metro Subway systems advises passengers that the line will remain closed around the West Village and Tribeca area down to South Ferry and delays are expected on the upper west lines A, C, E, 1, 2, 3, and 9. Only lines 4 and 5 will service Battery Point directly.

The new group, Theatre in the Streets, burst into the scene today. The company has decided to take action, out into the streets and businesses. Today two of the male performers in the company were performing in the new business, The Meeting Place.

The actors engage in real life situations, without the crowd being aware of what is happening. However when the actors engaged in a previously arranged action, where one does a mock shooting of the other, the crowd reacted dramatically. One opened fire on the actors, whick of course brought police to the scene.

The groups director remained after her actor left to have his injury treated, and is reported as being glad the pair wore armored protection into the scene. Clearly the crowd could see that the mock shooting done by the actors was not real for no injuries occurred. The only injuries, were then given our by members of the crowd to the cast. She then left to deal with the police and to have the news report.

Theatre in the Streets provides a means for actors to surprise and innovate themeselves among the crowd. It is a perfectly legal and legitimate actor's guild and union. They are hoping more become aware of them, after today's incident, to so that future injuries to the actors do not occur.

((added to the end of that one, or perhaps as an editor's note...))

The Meeting Place is considering pressing charges against the group for willful disruption of the business and reckless behaviour in a public place. No charges are to be laid against the customers who injured the actions as police agree that their responses were in self defense. It is likely that restrictions will be laid upon the nature of future performances for the actors' own safety.

It's that time of year again when the hottest factions in the sporting world begin setting themselves up for a long summer of contention. One of the more star spangled entrees is that of Jhaiel Frost, a four year resident of New York. It was today that Miss Frost put the seventh feather in her international cap by claiming the American title for Chinese Five Style, for the seventh consecutive year in a row: a record previously held in the 90's, by a mere stretch of five years.

Observers at the annual games which were held in the windy city of Chicago were stunned and awed by the prowess that Miss Frost showed on the floor and off it. She was said to 'move like quicksilver' and some likened her to a ghost in the quickness of her motions. However it was not just her ability on the mat that adds to her fearsome reputation as the 'Dragon' of martial arts, but the charm and ease which she expressed to the press waiting outside in the conference.

"All it takes is a lot of a hard work and a lot of determination," she is quoted as saying, in what remains a very strong french accent. With her steely silver gaze and formidible presence, its hard to believe that when Jhaiel Frost does take the floor in the 2030 Olympic games to be held in Los Angeles, after the extended six year hiatus that followed many anti-mutant demonstrations: that she won't sweep the competition away.

But for now, she lives comfortably in New York in what she calls a state of 'nirvana, or as close as tequila can get me'. What a star.
