Borkel Hardknuckles, dwarven monk

After killing the last of the rats, Borkel quickly resumes his worrying, seemingly unimpressed with the victory or with Lul's nonsense. He clutches his bloody leg, a rictus of pain on his face. He looks at Eddy with the eyes of a kid needing his mother's help.

"Eddy, can you help me? I am hurt ..."

Just before Eddy can answer, Borkel catches something from the corner of his eye thanks to his dwarven capacity to see in the dark. This temporarily makes him forget about the pain.

"I see a human body lying on the floor farther that way. It is not moving ..."

Sorrow shows on his face as he naively deduces that the poor fellow must have met a horrifying death, something that Borkel had just barely avoided.

"Let's go and drag his body out of this terrible warehouse, Sela demands that the deceased be treated with respect"

Seeing that their two friends are rather unnerved, Tumna goes to calming them down. She goes between the two guards, resting her hands on their shoulders and giving them her most charming smile.
"Boys, why don't we go see what we can do to the poor fellow over there while Eddy here tends to the valiant dwarf? Just leave the lantern here so the good man can see his patient." She starts leading the two guards towards the body, hoping to draw their attention away from their fear.

OoC: Hoped against hope that you'd just rolled their Reflex saves, so maybe they wouldn't have gotten to bite Borkel. Oh well, better luck for us next time. ;)

The two guards look at each other. Bru shoves Lul forward, Lul shoves Bru in turn. A shoving match ensues, but when Tumna starts moving forward, the two follow...

Will wait for Eddy to reply. I know he's away Sun and Mon. :)

Eddy takes a closer look at Borkel's leg. "Oh, yeah. That's pretty bad." He looks for signs of disease or infection, and tries to figure out what can be done about it (Heal Check: 19). He'll tell Borkel whatever he can discern, and then throws a Cure Light on it (Spontaneous Casting: Cure Light in place of Shield of Faith: heal 2 (D'oh!)). Frowning at that, he casts another spell (again, Spontaneous Casting: Cure Minor in place of Light: heal 1 hp). He gives a small shrug and pats Borkel confidently on the shoulder. "That'll stop the bleeding, anyway, and should hold you. If we're attacked again, I'll try to get some more healing your way, if you need it. Now, let's check out that body." He'll then head over toward the body, already being examined by Tumna.

Thanks for waiting, gang!

(Borkel is now at 9 HP)

Seeing how expertly Eddy handles his wounds, Borkel starts to relax. Eddy reminds him of Old Dramar, the healer at the monastery, who always made him feel better by just being calm and friendly. Borkel starts daydreaming about his confortable past, but the shoving match between Bru and Lul brings him back to reality.

As soon as Eddy is done healing him, Borkel puts his hand on Eddy's arm, looks at him right in the eyes, and says "I will not forget this, Eddy, you are a trustworthy man. May Sela protect you and what is dear to you."

He then joins the others.

Tumna reaches the body, and sees that it is a human male dressed in gray-black. Bru prods him with his spear, and the body turns. It probably hasn't been dead too long. The death stink is not particularly heavy, but noticeable. Lul continues to babble, sticking close to the group. "Well he's dead. Can we go?" says Lul. Bru brings the lamp closer to the corpse's face, and you realise that part of his face has been chewed off. Bru recoils in horror. Lul wails, trying to drag the fellow guard out of the warehouse.

Tumna:
[sblock]You notice the corpse appears to be clasping a pouch or something close to his chest.

Eddy and Borkel are preoccupied, but once done, they proceed to step over, the monk feeling better after the healing.

"Come on now, Lul sweetie, it's not like he's going to jump up and bite you. Though I am curious how he got here if you two have been guarding the place?"
Noticing the pouch, Tumna goes to prying it from the dead man's clutch. "Let's see what's so important..."

If Eddy is over near the body when Tumna goes through the bag, he will pay close attention to its contents, and say to the guards without looking at them, "Yes, how does a body get in here while you two are guarding the place?"

If he's not there yet, then . . . um . . . he won't do that. :D

As Tumna bends over and starts prying the bag out of the dead man's hands, a javelin shoots out of the darkness. It flies towards Lul and impales him perfectly through his chest. The guard looks at the weapon and whines softly, before collapsing in a heap on the ground, next to the corpse. Deep blood starts flowing out of his body.

Lul is at -6 hp, and dying.

The rest of the humans are in shock, but Borkel, with his vision that allows him to see in the dark, spies something...

Borkel:

You see the sniper about 50' away; a small humanoid-sized creature on top of one of the crates, deeper into the warehouse. There's something odd about it but you can't make it out immediately.
[/sblock]

Actions? Eddy and Brokel are 10' away from Tumna and the others. Only Bru's common lamp (15' illumination, 30' shadowy) provides illumination. The javelin came from a source deeper than 30'.
