It wasn't an option in your poll, but Haste 1E style is by far the worst. The benefits are great, but it automatically aged you a year magically, and in 1E, magical aging required a system shock roll which would kill you instantly if you failed.

Haste was thus a great spell for evil wizards who didn't care if their goblins on speed lived or died :]

I would vote for "d20 Modern" haste as the weakest (similar to 3.5, one target only).

1st Ed. haste did age the target 1 year. There was no system shock roll requirement.
(Nittany is probably thinking of 1st Ed. polymorph other.)

How is second edition the weakest? It doubled the amount of attacks you had in a round. So, a specialized fighter of decent level could attack 4 or more times a round, and with a bow or high rate of fire weapon that could get much higher. It was a must spell to be cast on the non spellcasting dudes.

The "problem" here is trying to compare a degree of "weakness" when the sytems are entirely different.

While 3.5 Haste has less beneficial effects it is, as a whole, more balanced in the system for which it was designed to be used.

2nd ed Haste was one of the more powerful 3rd level spells and thus slightly "out of balance".

3.0 Haste, well that argument continues to go on. But the system itself was changed when migrating to 3.5.

under a haste spell - 1 year

That system shock-or-die roll really made Haste a non-PC friendly spell in 1E.
