Rinaldo's plan is carried out and work's flawlessly. The rope does hold the weight of even the heaviest party member, and seems just the right length to swing from one side to the other. The party goes carefully and after within an hour of finding the room, they are on their way again on the other side.

The rough-cut passage continues, twisting and turning at odd angles. Who but a mad-man would spend all this time digging these tunnels so inefficiently?

Finally the passage ends at a sturdy door. It looks new and well maintained. There has been no trash or foul odor for some time. A small keyhole is visible just below the door handle. Above this, about eye-level on the door, is a crudely drawn face, sneering, with gnoll-like features, and long fangs.

"What do you suppose that means?" asks Tenebrynn, not really offering much in the way of help. "I am guessing that it might be a warning of what lies beyond. When prepared I'd imagine that we will want to first check for traps on the door."

Mordik will pull out his thieves tools at the sight of the door, but not immediately get to work. First he'll take a good look over and around the door for traps. If none are apparent he'll look around the party for any objections to him picking the lock.
He says in dwarvish(translated)[smallcaps]The eyes of many better than the eyes of the few[/smallcaps] and adds: [smallcaps] See anythin, frien's?[/smallcaps]

Sounds like Mordik is essentially taking 20 on his open locks. Eventually, he is successful.

Upon picking the lock, Mordik is somewhat surprised to feel the door jerk open. Evidently it was flexed, so once the lock was released, it opened inwards. A startling sight meets the eyes of the party.

This room is ornately carved from the rock. It is 130 feet long, 100 feet wide, and 30 feet tall. There are two rows of pillars crossing the room longwise. In the large space inbetween the pillars is occupied by a large reptillian creature with a heavy shell and a tail that looks like a giant mace. At the far end of the room is a throne. Sitting there is a unnaturally tall humanoid creature, looking like a cross between a gnoll and a goblin. It has glowing amber eyes, a hyaena-like snout, brimming with sharp crocked teeth, tall ears, and long claws. It is dressed in a dirty loincloth, but has numerous heavy gold jewled chains resting around its neck. In its right hand is an enormous heavy pick, not dissimilar to the one Tenebrynn carries.

Knowledge(religion) DC 10:[sblock] This creature matches the descriptions given of the evil goblinoid diety Kazikazi[/sblock]

One the creature's left is a huge gnoll, heavily armored and weilding a halbert. On the right of the throne is a tall, skelletal hobgoblin, holding a blood-red greatsword.

As the door flings open, the huge reptile roars and charges.

Eanos, human monk

Seeing his fellows react to what's in the room, Eanos moves quickly to enter. Upon seeing the charging beast, the monk mutters, "Ayratha, you do know how to test a man's mettle, don't you?"

He slides along the wall, making room for his companions. He lets loose with his readied sling when the creature is within range, but the shot simply spins off into the large empty space.

[sblock=OOC]40' single move should put Eanos in the lower left corner of the map.[/sblock]

Mordik lets out an odd noise, not unlike a yelp. He'll get his theives tools together and move to where Nurlan started the round, behind the wall. His intention is to put away his theives tools, drink a barkskin potion, ready his mace, and then reassess the situation.
