Gideon sends a vicious stab at Rat #7. He then takes a 5' step northeast, in pursuit of the two rats slipping around to go after his companions in the rear.
To hit: 19, damage: 9
OOC: Heh, nope. Gideon is only 2nd level. He was a 1st level sorceror when he first met Tor, though he didn't act like it.

The rats continue to snap at Tor & Gideon, each of the warriors taking another hit.
Fimble armors himself in magic at the sight of Drezel, then resumes moving forward.
Gideon stabs forward again, this time skewering the rat in front of him, ending its life.
Tor takes another bite from the rat in front of him.
Another rat finally closes in on Babette, but fails to find a soft spot for its teeth.
Metrius, delaying long enough for the rat to get close, steps up and swings his mace at the rat attacking Babette, crunching bones in its back but failing to drop it.
Drezel and Otto step closer to the others.
Tor crushes the rat in front of him with his chain, but the followthrough is off and fails to connect on a second rat. He takes a step backward, putting a little distance between himself and the three rats.
The rat in front of Babette takes advantage of an opening caused by her aiming of the crossbow to snap its jaws again, it misses again. Unfortunately so does Babette.

Fimble raises his crossbow again to have another go at archery. His shot (1d20+4=24, 1d6=3) is excellent, but the rat's hide is thick and manages to soften (confirm critical, 1d20+4=9) the bite of the bolt quite a bit. Fimble moves forward.

OOC: Oops, sorry about that.
Gideon continues to move back towards Metrius and Babette, ready to skewer any rats in his way. He'll move carefully to avoid slipping, unless it looks like the rats are about to overwhelm his companions, in which case he'll move as quickly as he can to help them. For now, he leaves Otto and Drezel to Tor.

The two rats near Tor quickly close on the injured warrior but neither of them are able to find an opening in the warrior's guard.
Fimble fires his crossbow once more, this time scoring a hit on the rat closing in on Babette. He takes another step closer to his quarry.

The rat shot by Fimble closes in on Babette, sinking its teeth into her thigh despite her magical protection.
Drezel calls out to the companions, "Surrender now and I'll restrain my pets!"
The rat Metrius struck turns its sharp teeth in the cleric but fails to penetrate his armor. Metrius tries to finish the creature off but fails to find the target after twisting to avoid the snapping jaws.
Another rat moves up on Babette, finding another opening in the sorceresses guard.
Tor slams his chain down on the rat in front of him, crushing its skull. He turns to the rat on his left but the chain sails over its head.
Babette, on the verge of collapse, steps away from the rats who attacked her. She's too wounded to do much else, though.
